Thanks John:
It looks like I’m going to have to come out of pocket and get one.
Many thanks,

Hi Grazie:
Thank you for sharing. I don’t see anywhere on the manual where it mentions blu ray burning. On the other hand it is advertised as such and I have been on the live chat with ASUS for the past two days where they keep saying that it is suppose to burn; giving me troubleshooting tips. Their word against the manual that does not reflect this. How disheartening! Nevertheless I have resolved that I would get an external blu ray writer so that I could stay on schedule and deal with ASUS later on this issue. I have an extended warranty with them.
Thank you so much for this.
Best,
Debbie

I have been on Live Chat with ASUS for two days trying to get to the bottom of the problem and they have shared a link for me to Chipset the drive. That said, it is still not working properly. The disc, when I insert it reads “BD ROM”. However trying this is, I may have to buy a BD Drive so that I can get this project in on time.
Any reason you don’t use DVDA to burn your discs?
Many thanks,
Debbie

Thanks John:
I think I’m clear. Do you use an external blu ray drive or one is installed in your computer?
Many thanks,

Thanks Everybody:
I am trying everything suggested. John: Are you using these third party burning software in conjunction with DVDA?

Thanks Everybody:
I have the ASUS Essential CM6870, which was suppose to come with a Blu ray burner. In fact when I clicked onto the BD Drive yesterday, and drop in a file, it asked whether I wanted to burn it. When I clicked yes, I received an error message that I needed to put in a writable disc.
Many thanks,
Debbie

Nope! Burning not smooth! DVDA is picking up that my Blu ray is a read only. I contacted ASUS and they say that I should be able to burn using a third party software, which DVDA is. So, that said, I dug deeper and discovered that the ASUS WINDOWS Update changed my Burner to a BD ROM. This is why when I tried to burn directly from Vegas, it told me to insert a writable disc. Also, when I try to burn directly through ASUS, it tells me to insert a writable disc, and why DVDA says it read only. So, I am in a dilemma, because facing a deadline and needing to burn this disc ASAP, I am forced to buy an external burner which is breaking my tight pocket. You mentioned before in an earlier post that I could use IMGBurn. Can I use IMGBurn without buying an external burner, even though my drive is not allowing any burning?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Debbie

Hi John:
I think I see what they are all saying. I thought everyone was saying that I should have it in Vegas 12. Yes, I do believe I saw the AC3 encoder in DVDA. Question. In an earlier post you suggested I get IMGBurn for burning my Blu ray. I have run across another issue concerning my blu ray. My ASUS has a blu ray burner that I was going to use to burn my blu ray using DVDA. It turns out that now it’s reading as a BD ROM and will not read my -R’s as recordable, but read only instead. Do I need to buy an external burner or can I use IMG Burn? It’s really hard to come out of pocket right now.
Many thanks,
Debbie

Hi Grazie:
No, I don’t have the AC3 Pro, and I don’t understand it. My new issue is that my blu ray drive in my ASUS is not reading my blu ray disc as recordable. It’s reading it as read only. Now I am forced to buy an external blu ray drive.
Many thanks,
Debbie

Hi Everyone:
I have not been successful burning my blu ray. A new problem arose. I set the properties in DVDA to accept the blu ray settings. I rendered PCM, because DVDA was going to recompress my AC3. I prepared the file for blu ray burning, and now the message is that my blank blu ray -r is in read only status.
I’m not sure of what this could mean, since it is not recording over anything. It’s blank and it’s recordable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Debbie
