  • DVDA Is Asking to Recompress My Audio

Posted by Debbie King on December 10, 2014 at 12:59 am

    Hello Everyone:

Would anyone know how to set up DVDA where it will not recompress audio? Does anyone know why it does this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

Debbie, did you render it using the AC-3 Pro template?

    Hi Mike:

No. Vegas 12 doesn’t give that option. It only has AC3. I rendered PCM instead and all uploaded well in DVDA. I prepared the file for burning, but now it’s reading that my blank Blu ray -R is in read only status. How could that be, since it is a recordable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Best,

    Debbie

Do you NOT get this? – I do:-

If you render in PCM then DVDA will re-render to what it needs.

Understand that PCM is uncompressed which is the highest quality you can get. If DVD Architect is recompressing this to AC3 that’s OK. It’s no different than if you rendered it to AC3 from within Vegas Pro because it’s starting from an uncompressed source.

I agree with the others that you should have the Dolby Digital AC-3 Pro encoder if you have DVD Architect Pro.

    Hi Grazie:

No, I don’t have the AC3 Pro, and I don’t understand it. My new issue is that my blu ray drive in my ASUS is not reading my blu ray disc as recordable. It’s reading it as read only. Now I am forced to buy an external blu ray drive.

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

    Hi John:

I think I see what they are all saying. I thought everyone was saying that I should have it in Vegas 12. Yes, I do believe I saw the AC3 encoder in DVDA. Question. In an earlier post you suggested I get IMGBurn for burning my Blu ray. I have run across another issue concerning my blu ray. My ASUS has a blu ray burner that I was going to use to burn my blu ray using DVDA. It turns out that now it’s reading as a BD ROM and will not read my -R’s as recordable, but read only instead. Do I need to buy an external burner or can I use IMG Burn? It’s really hard to come out of pocket right now.

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

[Debbie King] ” I thought everyone was saying that I should have it in Vegas 12.”

Yes you should if you have Vegas Pro 12 and DVD Architect Pro. Are these the products you are working with? or do you have Movie Studio 12.0 and DVD Architect Studio? If you have the Pro versions you will have the AC3 Pro encoder. If you have the Sudio versions to will have the Studio encoder.

[Debbie King] “In an earlier post you suggested I get IMGBurn for burning my Blu ray. “

That might not have been me or it was a much older post. I did use ImgBurn at one time but the menus became too complex so I switched to BurnAware Free. The menus are much simpler to understand. Both do a great job but I find BurnAware easier to use.

I would try to use BurnAware Free (or ImgBurn it doesn’t matter) and if that program thinks that your Blu-ray is a BD-ROM then you might only have Blu-ray Player and NOT a Blu-ray Burner. In that case you will need to purchase a Blu-ray Burner to burn discs.

Give us the make and model number of your ASUS computer and we can look up what it has.

There is something more fundamental going on. JR’s comments in that you really need to establish just WHAT that device is exactly. And, you really should have AC3 in your VP12. Would a non-burner effect the installation of the AC3?

    Hi Debbie,
thought I would step back in again 🙂

The Blu-ray disk on your pc is either a BD-ROM or a BD-RE, either it is a Blu-ray reader or burner. A lot of PC’s have a Blu-ray reader and a DVD Burner in one unit. What is important is that if it shows as type BD-ROM it will never burn a Blu-ray disk – no matter what software you use. It is the type of device that matters.

If you post a description of the device properties people can find out for you.

If you only have a BD-ROM then you will have to purchase an external Blu-ray Burner.

    Thanks Everybody:

I have the ASUS Essential CM6870, which was suppose to come with a Blu ray burner. In fact when I clicked onto the BD Drive yesterday, and drop in a file, it asked whether I wanted to burn it. When I clicked yes, I received an error message that I needed to put in a writable disc.

    Many thanks,

    Debbie
