    Thanks Everybody:

I am trying everything suggested. John: Are you using these third party burning software in conjunction with DVDA?

    Best,

    Debbie

[Debbie King] “John: Are you using these third party burning software in conjunction with DVDA?”

Yes. I have a disc duplicator so I create an ISO file from DVD Architect and then I use that ISO file with my duplicating software to burn a batch of discs. I also archive that ISO on an external drive so if a client orders more discs all I need is the ISO file and I can burn more.

    Thanks John:

I think I’m clear. Do you use an external blu ray drive or one is installed in your computer?

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

Debbie, I just downloaded and read the PDF for your ASUS Essential CM6870: ASUS Essential CM6870

Read it and see if any reference to Blue Ray Burning? Please confirm that machine has the capacity to do so, otherwise we’re all on a wild goose chase. However, there appears to be a bay for “another” drive.

[Debbie King] “I have the ASUS Essential CM6870, which was suppose to come with a Blu ray burner.”

Actually, according to the specs from NewEgg that computer has a “12X Blu-Ray Combo Optical Drive” which doesn’t specify if it’s a Blu-ray burner or not. It is very common to have Blu-ray Readers on DVD Burners. The ASUS web site has even less information about it.

Have you ever burned a Blu-ray with it? What makes you think it has a Blu-ray burner?

    I have an internal Pioneer Blu-ray BD-RW BDR-207 that I use.

    Hi Grazie:

Thank you for sharing. I don’t see anywhere on the manual where it mentions blu ray burning. On the other hand it is advertised as such and I have been on the live chat with ASUS for the past two days where they keep saying that it is suppose to burn; giving me troubleshooting tips. Their word against the manual that does not reflect this. How disheartening! Nevertheless I have resolved that I would get an external blu ray writer so that I could stay on schedule and deal with ASUS later on this issue. I have an extended warranty with them.

Thank you so much for this.

    Best,

    Debbie

    Thanks John:

It looks like I’m going to have to come out of pocket and get one.

    Many thanks,

That’s unfortunate but the term “Combo Drive” usually means it reads Blu-ray and read/writes DVD. Otherwise they just call them Blu-ray Burners. It’s interesting that ASUS is telling you it’s a burner but they can’t make it work! If they can’t make it work who can???

Having said that… I’ve had this happen to me once. I don’t remember how I fixed it, it was a long time ago but I would delete the burner entry in Device Manager, reboot the computer, and have it discover the drive again. Perhaps ASUS has already asked you to do this.

    Hi John:

No, they haven’t instructed me to try this. I will try it. It’s strange, because when I go into My Computer and click the ROM Drive with a Blu ray disc inserted, there is a tab above that asks me if I want to burn it. When I select it, it then asks me to insert a writable disc. In any case, I have to get a drive today so that I can stay on schedule.

Thank you so much for the suggestion.

    Many thanks,

    Debbie
