Hi Grazie:

It’s a very short clip about 30 seconds. I have to check. The background noise is not that bad, and the voices do stand out, but I wanted to try to clean it up more. I cleaned it a little.

Bob: Both of these actors are out of town, and although I have taken a unique approach to getting some dialogue from other actors, those were just monologue; not exchanged dialogue. It would be virtually impossible to do it this way with two people, as they would need to see the clip to follow; and I cannot at this time share video clips before premiere. If they were able to come to my location, it would be doable.

Thank you for your response.

I was able to reduce some of the noise with my noise reduction software, then I used EQ to lessen it more. I may have to keep what I have as it really isn’t that bad. The ambient noise is from the street, cars and such, and it kind of competes with the dialogue. The good thing is that there is no particular sound, like a motor or talking that I hear; just traffic. I believe I may be able to get away with it. What I really wanted was to lower the ambient and raise the voice. I know that RX3 Advanced could have done this for me, but I don’t have it.

Hi Steve:

It turns out that Cubase rounds it to 24 FPS. There doesn’t seem to be any place for me to manually change the settings. Do you think that if I went ahead and rendered it as 24 fps, the composition would fit properly since it’s just a fraction of a difference?

Hi Everyone:

Thank you so much for your responses. I always wondered about that, since I am compressing the dialogue after clean up.

John, what I meant was during the mixing process, do I compress, since everything else will be compressed?

What I believe everyone has been saying is to wait until I determine where I will be using it, and then decide whether compressing is necessary. What I am doing is preparing this film for festival exhibition. I will be using the DCP format and possibly Blueray in other occasions.

Hi John and Grazie:

I rerendered and sent him the frame rate of 23.976 which is the size of my project that reads in Vegas. The reason I had selected 29.976 is because iNTSC is standard for submission.. I understand now that I complete my project in what reads in Vegas and them render based on the criteria set for submission.

John you mentioned render at 29.970. Is it because I mentioned it above, or is it something I should do despite what Vegas reads.

On that print screen I shared, the bottom reads 30 fps. Even when I changed the frame rate above, I still see 30 below. Should I change that also?

Hi Grazie:

When I rendered this film, it was just a few weeks ago, and I’m not certain why I chose 15. Actually, I believe I kept the default. I’ll change it to 29.970. I believe what I was attempting to do was make the file smaller so that I would be able to upload at 1.8GB. I needed a file under 2GB.
