  • Hi Noah…

    Thanks for the fast response.
I use the camera’s component out for monitoring to the Pana LCD in the field, and know I can output back to a P2 Card from Final Cut for later review via the camera…but I’m looking for “real time” monitoring while working on timelines in Final Cut (in addition to the Cinema display). As I understand it, I can’t use my HVX200 (via firewire) as an output device for this purpose, correct?

    Thanks

Thanks to all for the advice on P2 and sea sickness… it’s amazing the information you can get from Creative Cow!!!

Actually, I’m not a bad traveller, and have just got back from the race which was a terrific experience. I’ve also had a great time (so far) with P2. I will try to post my workflow soon in the hope that it will help a few people – like you have all helped me.

    Thanks again.

Thanks to all for the feedback. I now feel very confident moving forward. All that’s left to do now is to locate those sea sickness pills!!!

Thanks so much for the input – problem solved. When I originally saw that it was going to take up 22gb for the entire install I stopped at that point. Following your advice, I went through the process again. The option to do a custom install comes after you have entered in your serial numbers for Final Cut, DVD Studio Pro and Motion. All I then needed to do was select Final Cut (and Compressor) – 400mb.

    Terrific. Appreciate the help.

Thank you so much for getting back to me, and so quickly. I did indeed try MPEG StreamClip and it seemed to work flawlessly on my test clips, so it seems you’ve given me a potential solution to my problem.

I’m not sure why I’ve had a problem with Flip4Mac. Perhaps it’s just the type of material I am working with (the content is quite dark, with a lot of moving, composited images and transitions) but it seems to produce a good deal of “blockiness” and discoloration (towards green) – no matter what settings I use. I have had conversations with the Flip4Mac moderator and he has seen some of the same problems. I’m sure it will be much better on other materials.

Again, I truly appreciate your help. I will finally be able to sleep tonight!
