If you go through the update dialog you shouldn’t have to manually install anything. Once I told it to update it just progressed to the installation automatically. Although, for the previous update I did have exactly what John described happen on one computer once and worked fine the second time.

  • As a follow-up to this, I tried dropping the files into Premiere and they’re out of sync in the timeline already there, but they play fine in VLC and the Vegas timeline, so those are somehow compensating for whatever causes the sync issue, Vegas just isn’t doing it when rendering out.

Eh, I’m sure someone who does more with titles than my boring corporate experience will have a better solution, but for the Veryyyyy effect, I would just use good old Legacy Text, click the Animate button in the lower left to add a timeline to the bottom, then move the cursor forward a few frames, add a “y” at the end, move forward a few frames, add a y, repeat.

Definitely fixes the annoying bug where moving clips in the timeline was super sluggish if either Project Media tab wasn’t closed or you had event pan/crop window open. Love it.

Thanks for the reply. I guess the old ways are best. My SelectEventsFromCursor.js is dated August 2007, so here’s to another 11 years together and thanks to John Rofrano for creating it back in 2004!

Oh my gosh, after all these years they’ve FINALLY added “Select Events From Cursor”! The most no-brainer option any NLE should have that I’ve had to install a script and bind to a key every time I install Vegas. Kudos to MAGIX for finally integrating some sense into Vegas, and I guess for all the other really cool stuff they added. Definitely gonna upgrade and play with this at home. If it’s stable and reliable maybe I can finally make it full time at work instead of Vegas 11 I’ve clung to for so long.

Why, is 15 actually due soon?

July 24, 2017 at 6:09 pm in reply to: Most Compatible? MainConcept or Sony AVC

I vaguely recall like 5 or 6 years ago running across some old device that wouldn’t play a Sony AVC mp4 I had made, but would play a MainConcept, and since I had only recently switched to using Sony I just went right back to MainConcept and used it ever since. Never once came across something that couldn’t play it. I use the Main profile but that’s only because it’s the default and I never bothered using the others.

June 2, 2017 at 9:34 pm in reply to: How do I select an envelope to delete it

I’m most familiar with the volume and velocity envelopes which operate pretty differently. Most envelopes you would add/delete in the Insert menu, although I just use Shift+V, but something like velocity is on a per-clip basis so you right-click that clip and go to insert/remove envelope. To add keyframes just hold shift and click on the envelope, then drag it around to tweak it (hold Ctrl while doing that to adjust it in smaller increments.)

  • Is that Vegas checking to see if any other instances are running on other shared computers under the same license, so that it will shut down if you have the same license installed on too many pc’s?
