Many of the companies offering cloud storage commercially are simply providing the front end (software interface) for the big guys like Amazon, Google, Apple, etc. So, it’s very tough for smaller non-enterprise customers to determine what services their actually getting for their money, and if those service providers with the best prices will actually survive in the marketplace, and what that would mean the subscriber.

So, you’re venturing into an arena that’s easy to navigate for big enterprise level companies, as they can afford the biggest, most secure, and in many cases, the most expensive cloud storage from the big guys, who give them big discounts. Those companies are just too expensive for most small companies and individuals, forcing them to go to the innumerable smaller consolidators, that get swallowed-up by the competition all the time.
So, until the whole cloud thing becomes more mature, the little guys, like most of us, had best beware.

And that’s an understatement… It hardly works at all with h.264, unless you’re cutting :30’s or :60’s, I wouldn’t bother.

According to Apple’s own documentation, FCP is not supposed to support files wider than 2000 pixels, but if it does, that’s good to know.

You have multiple issues with the workflow you’re attempting. First FCP 7 does not support 4K, and there’s certainly no way you can play Pro Res 4444 from a single drive. How many drives does the Thunderbolt RAID have, because it too may not have the throughput required to playback Pro Res 4444 4K.

In case you’re not aware, every time you double the number of spinning disks in s RAID array you double the throughput, do by not offering the number of drives to readers here every time you mention having a RAID, you make it necessary for others to have to ask.

Just ask the folks around here how long and how often I’ve been spreading the word about cloning before updating/upgrading here on the Cow. It’s the reason I’m the #6 poster here of all time.

If I’ve missed a few people in the world, or they missed my message, believe me, it’s not for sake of trying on my part. And, for the record, I don’t shame them, Apple handles that very nicely, all on their own. I just let them know the warning was available here, in advance, so they know who to ask next time before they click on the “all too easy” to push button Apple likes to dangle in front of its unsuspecting fanboys and fangirls.

I just give my clients the master, a very high quality h.264, and an emailable version. The h.264 version can play off the thumb drive.
