Well, if learning the old software and later having to relearn it all over again is acceptable, then I might agree. However, the new built-in Lumetri Color Correction toolset is much easier to learn, and well worth the upgrade path for many users, especially for those who have previously shied away from learning color grading. The Lumetri scopes are also vastly more improved than the scopes in CS6.

That’s not an issue. Just make certain to number the drives so you are certain to replace the drives in their proper slot, as some RAID controllers are quite specific about drive order.

Also, before buying new drives, check to make certain your RAID manufacturer does not require you purchase lreplacement drives in sleds from them, as most do, and at a significant premium. Who is the manufacturer?

I suggested you set your Preview Video setting to Pro Res 422.

And, threre’s more to what I wrote than just rendering… My way you’re exporting a master before encoding any deliverables.

Not that you’re a fool, but here’s a foolproof method for achieving your goal every time, and probably faster than you’re doing now as well.

1) First, make certain that your Preview Video settings are set to a good format for mastering, as in Pro Res 422 or DNX 145.

2) Render your timeline fully

3) Export a master from the timeline that exactly matches your preview files (there’s a checkbox).

4) Use that master in Adobe Media Encoder to create any deliverable you need.

Two 6g drives striped as RAID 0 will give you approx 400MB/sec. Do you know exactly how many MB/sec your Scarlett is set to record at? Before buying anything, let’s do the math so you know exactly how many streams you’ll be able to edit.

There is a problem under the hood of Premiere with the XAVCi codec – as best it was explained to me, a Premiere needs to be “optimized” for many, if not all, new codecs, and XAVCi hasn’t received the treatment yet.

Not that it really matters, because until it’s optimized you can throw hardware at it all day long and XAVCi is simply not going to perform well, and you’ll only get a very limited numbers of streams to playback, and probably at only 1/4 res too, but you didn’t mention any details about the new iMac you purchased, nor did you mention any details of your media drive(s) or RAID array. It’s tough to provide help here without specific details.
