April 14, 2016 at 5:30 pm in reply to: PP CC 2014.1 on PC – some proxies relink, most don’t. Why is that?In order to answer your question precisely you would have to provide a lot of additional information.
1) what is your camera original?
2) is there camera roll metadata for each clip and is it different for each card you imported?
3) have you checked your sub-clips to make certain they have timecode, and does proxy timecode match timecode on the camera original?
4) is there a pattern you see that you did f’ed failed to mention to us with regard to which clips relinked vs those that did not?
(***I’m not certain if Premiere handles subclips better than FCP 7 did, but I can tell you that most experienced online/finishing editors who ever experienced working with subclips in FCP would advise anyone to avoid using subclips in any online/offline workflows.)

April 14, 2016 at 2:05 am in reply to: Michael Cioni on X and modern workflows for NAB 2016When FCPX can create a story and write narration it’ll do something worth my time to learn it, until then I still maintain it’s a solution looking for a problem, and it’s not a problem I have.
On the other hand, Resolve solves many problems for me, and though it’s perhaps not the perfect editing app for all things, it’s becoming my goto solution for many things.

I agree with Chris – I think the newer MacBook Air might have more horsepower.

April 13, 2016 at 4:18 am in reply to: Michael Cioni on X and modern workflows for NAB 2016[Jeff Markgraf] “Wow. Sick burn there, David. Great contribution, really on point.”
There’s an old rule that applies to that video Jeff, i.e. anything you publish for public dissemination should be properly error-checked before publishing, because it reflects on you, your company, and your message.
That rule is not one that anyone in our business should ignore, and that makes my point valuable to all here on the Cow who wish to communicate effectively and have a long and lasting career. Or would you argue otherwise?
By not taking just a few minutes to crush the blacks or to simply drop a freaking LUT on Michael’s on-camera portion of his company’s PR piece, would you argue that they strengthened his message?
Face it dude, it’s sloppy craftsmanship, and the guy who posted it for Light Iron and Panavision should get reprimanded, because it’s going to be on the Internet in perpetuity, and forever is a long, long time.

April 11, 2016 at 11:34 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro 9.2 & Graphics card CUDA problems, video goes black! Poof!Chris,
The last version of the OS you should be running under is Mavericks. That was the biggest piece of crud Apple ever released, as should be obvious based upon the very brief time it existed before being replaced El Cap.

Please, before you start changing things that are messed up in other people’s computers, please open the box and yank that ancient card out of there and see if the damn thing works. That old card is not achieving any positive benefits for you, period, end of story. Your Mac mechanic who left that in should be paying you (and me) for making that stupid decision.
This is my last post on the subject until you tell me that card is dead and buried…

April 11, 2016 at 4:33 pm in reply to: About to start cutting a spot in RIO on a Mac Pro trashcan and Premiere Pro… thinking about bringing my SSD to boot from, good idea?If you leave them with a project in which you used your plugins and apps they don’t have that will backfire on you. Don’t you have a web-based email app or smartphone that allows you to access all your emails?
