No Jim, I’ve not made the upgrade… The upgrade is to a 60Mb/sec version of 4K, which I understand is just not up to par, even though it looks good to the naked eye. It’s kind of like HDV was when HD first arrived on the scene, with limited color depth for grading, etc. 100Mb/sec is what most agree should be the minimum for 4K acquisition. I was not aware of the 4K when I acquired the camera, and I have to admit that I’ve been a bit disappointed, but it does a very nice job of handling HD imagery when using the XAVC- L codec, which is easy to payback as well.

You are thinking about proxies a bit incorrectly…

You are thinking that the only way to create a proxy is to make it smaller in terms of pixel dimensions. Of course that will screw-up your workflow. Instead, your proxies should be exactly the same pixel dimensions as your camera original, just choose a hi-performance codec, such as ProRes or DNX, and use the lower bitrate choices, such as ProRes proxy or LT. If you still have issues playing three streams of those codecs, you need a RAID that delivers more throughout than your current hard drive subsystem is delivering.

I can assure you, that card has not been tested by Adobe for many years, but it still might work. You should consider a new GPU anyway, because the current crop of cards will provide you with vastly increased Cuda processing/acceleration, and at a great price. You’ve gotten your money’s worth out of the old card.

You said you have the latest drivers… Does that include both the Nvidia web driver and the separately installed Cuda driver?

Also, have you uninstalled both and reinstalled both since installing the latest Adobe software?

Jim, XAVC-L and XAVCi are completely different file types. I also own an X-70, and those files are easy peazy, but XAVCi has been problematic. Adobe was supposed to have gotten around to optimizing CC 2015 for XAVCi, but there have been many conflicting reports about the actual playback performance, with some users continuing to recommend transcoding to a mezzanine codec, such as ProRes, before editing.

I hope someone with recent experience with XAVCi will chime in to provide an update here.

The most simple answer is, NEVER update in the middle of a project, or look carefully before hitting the update button, because Adobe has an option that will not delete your prior version, thus installing the newer version side by side with the older one.

In what app(s) are you seeing the descrepancy you’ve mentioned? And, have you tried to use the files to create a disc, or are you waiting to try that until you see your audio and video files at exactly the same length? I ask because it’s not uncommon that apps don’t divulge accurate running length stats.
