If you don’t want to animate multiple text files then your best bet would be to use an app like Apple Motion, which has innumerable presets for animating text, or perhaps you can find an After Effects template that does the same.

Did it work? I’ve found that turning it off in preferences doesn’t always work.

February 10, 2017 at 6:16 pm in reply to: Setting numbered markers

Once you label several markers in your timeline right click and you’ll see a list of your markers, which I believe are numbered. I’m not at my computer now so I can’t check, but that’s my recollection. Other than that, there is no numbering of markers.

  • Try something, anything, other than an AVCHD timeline. I’d try DNXHD if I were you.

There is no mention whatsoever of an I/O card or device in your post, and no mention of the tape deck you’re trying to record to, etc. Without precise information it’s impossible for anyone to help you.

February 6, 2017 at 10:31 pm in reply to: Second Monitor Playback

You seem to misunderstand the monitoring options. To display to a broadcast monitor or TV (client monitor), Resolve absolutely requires a Blackmagic I/O card or device. To display full screen to a computer monitor there is both a keyboard command and a menu command.

The HDMI output from your GPU card is simply another way to connect to a computer monitor, with the same functionality and color accuracy as a DVI or any other computer display connection.

For accurate color display for professional color correction and grading you must use one of the Blackmagic devices I mentioned above with a calibrated TV or broadcast monitor.

    Make sense???

It’s very simple, unless you want to spend your time dealing with software incompatibility instead of creative decisions you “should” ALL be using the same version of your software.

February 2, 2017 at 5:41 am in reply to: 2nd monitor stopped displaying

    Hey Stephen!

First, you need to try to determine where the problem lies by trying to rule out different things…

First, you need to check your GPU drivers for any settings that may have inadvertently toggled off your 2nd monitor. If there are no apparent issues you should try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers.

Next, make sure your 2nd monitor isn’t the issue by plugging in the monitor cable from monitor #1. If that works as it should, then test the cables by swapping them.

Hopefully, the things above will have either fixed your issue or revealed a hardware issue… if not, your GPU may have developed an issue affecting only the 2nd monitor output, which means you’ll need a replacement.

Hope this helps… If not, contact me privately and I’ll try to help.

Of course Ivan… And, I’d suspect that even Mr. Bus card I might agree with us at this point in time – when this thread was created many were misinformed about h.264 playback.

January 14, 2017 at 5:06 am in reply to: FCP7 4k and proxies

Actually Fred, you hit on precisely that aspect of the workflow that made me reluctant to get into an explanation. You see, I never recommend proxies with different pixel dimensions than my final master, because doing means that all graphics, titles, repositioning, scaling, etc., will have to be redone once the original footage is conformed/relinked, and given that FCP 7 does not support 4K, it just would not have made sense for Phillipe to move the project to FCP X or another app, where almost everything would need a redo.

    Make sense?
