Your question has been asked by editors since the beginning of time… And, the answers have not gotten any easier as technology and software have advanced, because the time component of post has contracted, not expanded, in spite of adding more tasks to the overall post workflow.
The only way to achieve color perfection in a composite is either to delay the compositors work until color is completed, or to proceed with building the composites with the understanding that all color corrected shots will be replaced in the final composite after grading is concluded. Typically, the latter solution is the one most wound tend to adopt, but as with any part of the workflow that happens at the bitter end, any delays encountered along the way will tend to put “the squeeze” on the person at the end chain. Good luck eliminating that issue, few in the biz have ever figured a way around it.

Alienware is wholly owned by Dell and has been for a number years since being acquired by Dell. So, while there might be a few tweaks for gamers, the primary market for Alienware, I’m assuming they most likely use the same parts – so, don’t get too hung up on the cool and colorful Alienware marketing, as you’re probably paying more for that than for any differences in hardware or performance.

I hate hearing about these kinds of issues, and I’m really feeling your pain Dan.
Given that the entire LTO food chain, including hardware, software, and media is, in my opinion, both overpriced and not nearly as foolproof and reliable as it should be, I think I’d be inclined to build a redundant nearline diskbased archival system if I were running a facility. While nothing is perfect, at least it would be faster, cheaper, and more reliable than the current state of LTO.

While most of abhor paying yearly support fees to resellers, your post is a perfect example of what often happens when those of us who think we’re technically savvy purchase, deploy, and try to maintain these types of systems on our own. When I worked for a well known reseller, I used to give my customers a piece of advice when they would balk at purchasing a support contract, “I’d rather have you yell at my support guys when something doesn’t work properly, than risk your boss yelling at or firing you.”

Lowering the quality and size of your stills will help the most… and/or get a very fast RAID for all your media… and possibly changing RT settings to turn off Unlimited Realtime might help.

The realtime engine in FCP is not infinite in terms of available bandwidth – you have obviously exceeded the available bandwidth, which is a cumulative thing based upon the number of stills combined with the throughput requirements of your video codec.
If you would like to see exactly what I’m talking about, just add stills to an empty timeline one at a time… what you’ll see is that after a certain number of diffrent stills are added your render car will turn yellow, and after a few more it will turn red.

Why go through all that effort? Just farm the work out to someone who has FCP 7. I’ll do it for you for a $100.

Remove Attributes is the only 1-click solution, so, if you can’t use Remove Attributes then you’re not going to find another fast and easy solution. It would seem to me that you’d do better spending your time finding a copy of the missing plugin that’s causing the issue.
