proper machine for Premiere pro
Hi everyone
I need some advice concerning to PC machines that I have to chosse from.
Yes i’ve decided to move PC for Adobe CC1st: Dell XPS 15
– 16GB 2400MHz, DDR4 ; up to 32GB
– 512GB PCIe Solid State Drive 490-BDMW
– NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX™ 1050 avec 4Go GDDR5
– 7th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ Quad Core Processor (6M cache, up to 3.8 GHz)
– Intel (R)CPU label for Core(TM) i7 KBL
– 15.6″ FHD (1920 x 1080) InfinityEdge, Silver2nd: Alienware 13” (a little more expensive)
– Alienware 13 R3
– 32GB DDR4 – 2400MHz
– NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5
– Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ (Quad-Core, 6MB Cache, up to 3.8GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
– Intel (R)CPU label for Core(TM) i7 KBL
– 13.3 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits Display with Alienware Head-KBLMy question is: Does Adobe premiere will take advantage of the 6GB dedicated of the Nvidia 1060 graphic card?
Is Alienware brands are they ‘FIT’ for video \ photo editing and motion graphics?
meaning mostly : Photoshop, Premiere and After effect?Wich Machine would you choose to Work mostly HD for video?

Alienware is wholly owned by Dell and has been for a number years since being acquired by Dell. So, while there might be a few tweaks for gamers, the primary market for Alienware, I’m assuming they most likely use the same parts – so, don’t get too hung up on the cool and colorful Alienware marketing, as you’re probably paying more for that than for any differences in hardware or performance.

While building those machines with the Rep on the phone he told the Nvidia 1060 doesn’t fit the XPS 15.
Marketing wise, i do find the Alienware pretty ugly actually.
Do you think xps 1050 4gb is enough?

You’re eventually going to want the more powerful GPU, so I would advise that you wait a bit until more motherboards are released that can accommodate the 1060. If you can’t wait, then pay more for the Alienware box and pray for the best.

That is something I don’t like with computers.
PRAY.Alienware is in fact a little more expensive but not that much.
But so ugly!!You think Premiere will take advantage of the 6gb on the 1060?
That is really my question.And I don’t think about the 1080 Nvidia

I’m sure that any new computer with a newer GPU will run circles around what you’re cutting on now, but a year from now you’ll be wishing you’d waited for the faster GPU. That’s just the way it works, cuz files just keep getting bigger, and more and more of what we do is accelerated by the GPU. If you can, I’d wait a few more months… You might also consider contacting Puget Systems to see what they are offering – their machines are pretty much leading edge, but not bleeding edge, and somehow not as expensive as many other custom built for hi-end editorial.
