  • Frank, I never had much luck going directly to DVD with Final Cut. Can you list chapters

and have a DVD menu button for each chapter?

  • ok – thanks

my problem was not understanding that some or all you tube videos,

i’m not sure which, are PAL – 25 fps – understanding that solved my

problem and i can go back to DVD Studio Pro

Yes – i used 2 different apps for downloading youtube videos – they seem to work ok (hoping the malware isn’t too bad)

I created a custom setting in Compressor. It is the standard MPEG-2 setting with one change; normally frame rate is “automatic” which must be exactly why everything that starts out PAL, stays PAL (25 fps). I reset that to 29.97.

Is that probably all I have to do?

    Jeremy,

Thanks for taking the time. Everything went through Compressor using the standard “DVD” button that produces an audio and a video file. That setting has always created NTSC DVDs for me. I wonder if it is still 25 fps even after that, and the DVD software sees that as PAL.

Is there a special way to convert to NTSC in Compressor?

    it’s not an NTSC problem

I am using NTSC media and making an NTSC DVD like I have in this

work flow for over 10 years. The problem is that DVD Studio Pro is no

longer working properly on an old Mac. I need to reset to factory settings,

which is not working, or get a suggestion for DVD authoring software

like Roxio Toast 19 that works well

to author DVDs on a Mac.

Hi Devin – wonder if you can help. I also author DVDs for many years on an old Mac with DVD Studio Pro. All of a sudden I get this message – PAL assets cannot be imported into an NTSC project. My assets are not PAL. Do you know how to fix this, or reset to factory settings or anything like that? I did a lot of troubleshooting – it’s not the FCPX file and it’s not the compressor file creating the problem. Thanks, Dave

Great idea. I can’t get audio to record internally. Downloaded the app, didn’t work. Emailed with him and he tried but it didn’t help. I will email him back and ask for a video call. Only other problem i noticed is drift – client records zoom, i record iShowU, after 10 minutes there is drift. Wondering if different software is frame accurate.

Thanks, John. My situation is different from yours, and much simpler. Sort of. The client records the 2 hour presentation on zoom. I record it also, but with a different view, so I can edit them together like a 2-camera shoot. I need my recording to be frame-accurate so it syncs with the zoom recording, and I need to record audio from the computer, not from my mic. That last thing seems to often be the spoiler. I am now trying to learn to use Quicktime for my “second cam” recording – easy – and to get it to record audio from the application, not my mic – less easy.
