    Should I choose sequence preset
“Apple ProRes 422 NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic”
or is one of the HQ settings better?
    (Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) etc….)

I suppose it would make sense for the
sequence setting and the export setting
    to be identical.

Thanks – I will do this.

Is converting the footage to a friendlier
format before log and capture even better?
(For next time, I mean, since this project is
    already edited.)

    Dave,
    Something just hit me.
Could the problem be that I did not convert
the HDV footage before log and capture?

In Compressor, I start with 90 minutes Best Quality.

This is the best I could customize:

    MPEG-2
    Mode: 2-pass VBR Best
Average Bit Rate: 7.7 – I bumped this up but it seems to not be able to go higher.
    Maximum Bit Rate: 9.0
    Motion Estimation: Best
    Allows up to 67 minutes

Can I customize even better for a short movie?

    1. When they move, their image follows
them – kind of blurs behind them as
    they move.
    2. Image is just not crisp.

    Looks Much better in FCP.

Dancers are fairly well lit with LED light.

    Camera is 20 feet away.

    Dan, Phil and Scott,

Excellent comments – thanks. I have been using the 3-way color corrector
and your comments make me think that I might get closer to what I want with
a warm card but I will still probably use the corrector to get all the way there.
So what’s the point? Plus, the color corrector is quick and renders fast and there’s
    not much down side.

I think you guys just saved me 100 bucks.
