As of now, there is no multi-cam editing in Resolve, this might be an issue for some. Also, not sure if there is a way to export audio tracks into another program. This is something to consider.
I will say that trimming and keyframing looks very nice. One of the biggest drawbacks in Final Cut Pro (any version) has been the lack of good keyframing capabilities. Motion and After Effects are far superior in this regard. Resolve will have great keyframing as well.
The trim tools, while sufficient, in FCP are really all that great. A four up display would be nice for sliding and slipping. Really would like to see what is going on either side of the edit.I would probably use FCP X, at least for now, to add transitions and for some other finishing tasks. Once there is more support in Resolve, it will become the primary editing tool. For quick motion graphics, going to stay with Motion as it can get the job done.
I do think Resolve will be great at editing but is it ready to be considered a replacement? My two cents, whatever it is worth.

It looks like it could take some steam of the After Effects locomotive. Too early to tell but with this and Resolve, things are getting very interesting.

Thank you very much for the information. I did not even consider thinking about the viewfinder, thanks for the heads up on that one. I am looking at a Tascam recorder for $200 on the B & H Photo website, not sure if this would work but looks like it might. I have never had experience with a double system before so guess it will be time to do a little research on that. I am guessing that Resolve will handle this task well as people use it to process dailies. Once that is all done I will edit in Final Cut Pro X and once Resolve 11 comes out, hope to do most of the post-production work there.
Again, thank you for all the information. I found it extremely valuable.

I have purchased a few FX Factory plug-ins but have not ran into real issues with one exception. I ran an update but kept getting an error message. Did a clean install from the ground up and the update worked with no further issues. This was back on Mountain Lion, and a software update to the OS was probably corrupted causing the issue.
I did contact customer support and they were very helpful. I do not remember who I talked to but they gave really great support.

Looks like a FCP 7 and Avid MC timeline to me. There are no nested sequences, at least that I am aware of, but does allow for the use of compound clips. That is the only type of FCP X feature that I am aware of. This is going to be an exciting release!

I agree, and certainly looking forward to it being released. I will probably be using FCP X to do some additional finishing tasks, like lower thirds and custom transitions.
One question that I have not seen answered or discussed is how it will interact with Photoshop layers. I might have missed that somewhere.
Really look forward to getting on my computer. Looks like fun!
