Wow! This is exciting!
I do know that the Super 16 format is still alive as well. Bolex still makes the cameras but at a higher price. I was lucky to find a used one on eBay for the price of FCP X, in very good condition. Now if only that film scanner was not expensive that would be great.
I just wonder if the Super 8 movie, not seen it yet, had anything to do with this resurgence. Who knows, maybe 8 Track will be brought back to life. Stranger things have happened.
Remember kids, X marks the spot as in FCP X.

Thank you for responding. It looks like the people in the scene were painted somehow in Photoshop. I am guessing it was a photo that was stylized to look like that. Any ideas on how to proceed?

I find myself being drawn to FCP X even more. It just feels more responsive, the interface, while needing some minor improvements, is great and, more important, realtime previews.
No tracks means I don’t have to worry about track assignments or patching, which can slow one down. Motion integration, while not perfect (due to the lack of exporting clips directly over), is a nice feature. I can just make a simple title card and with rigs, have the ability to change the background and other things on the fly. A huge timesaver she is!
Only thing lacking is native support for Cinema DNG files, so Resolve is a must have.
I wonder if it, that is FCP X, will handle camera files from a Digital Bolex in its native format. Been eyeing that camera for sometime and the footage looks great.

Thank you for responding. Looks like this new option raises more questions then can be awnswered. I noticed that some reviewers had issues with the free version from the MAP, then again they might not have read the configuration guide. For now, I will just download any update from the BMD website.

Two questions:
Will a hardware dongle be required if purchased from the App Store? Will current owners with a dongle be required to pay for the next version though not purchased from the App Store or is that a free upgrade? I noticed question one being thrown around on the BMD website. The question of whether it can be purchased once but installed on multiple machines under the same account was raised as well. Guess we will find out soon enough. My guess the update cycle in the current version will be free.

Slowdowns:
People, for reasons obvious. Rendering in Resolve becomes annoying. I mean, FCP X, everything is real time or close to it. One minor change in Resolve means rendering out that part of the timeline again just to see it in realtime.
Speed up:
Working with nodes in Fusion. Can save several different settings which is nice. Searching for tools in Fusion with command space bar is a bonus. Fusion is responsive, which is nice!

I have amen interest in trying out Hit Film, looks like the team is making serious progress. It is priced about right and with OFX support it might be an alternative to Motion. I don’t see it competing with After Effects at the moment but that might change.
I would love to use Nuke Studio but it is expensive. Impressive software it is. Perhaps there could be something like that with Fusion and Resolve though it is not really a serious editor just yet. A few improvements with playback would help. As far as touching up a single shot, Fusion is really awesome!
