Thanks Wick,
I’m sure that other operators must have come across this problem as well. Anyway, I might just try that trick on a known piece of ‘strobing’ video.
Thanks again

I have a Miller DS20 tripod, which I try to use for most of my recordings and if I have to go portable, I have a DVRig Pro HD. Both balance the camera with my Fujinon XS17x lens very nicely.
All the best with your new camera

Hi Brian,
Not directly from M100 whilst digitising/acquiring. Only from Beta machine that has adjustable TBC. You can of course monitor the video levels & chroma saturation incoming on the M100’s waveform monitor & vectorscope.
If you can’t adjust the black levels from the machine at that time, you can do so in the colour corrector during the edit.
Hope this helps you

Thanks guys,
The codec I use is ProRez 422 in HD project from imported EX files No problem with other transitions. Happens in both preview mode & rendered mode in any direction. Transition setting is 0-100. One point I will mention is that the soft edge is very soft edge but that should not affect the transition.
I will be trying again today after re-starting the system. Update in my next post.

I have read the many posts on that forum as well. It surprised me that people are taking these steps to yes, save a bundle of cash (at least initially) on their recording medium outlay because the EX cameras are designed to directly work with the Sony SxS cards.
If one wants cheaper & unauthorised recording medium, then there will be consequences. I paid a bundle of cash for my new 32Gb Sony SxS cards, but I see them as workhorses for the next umpteen years, doing everything they are meant to do. I can rest easy, knowing that I have over 200 minutes of HQ recording without worrying about whether the cards are going to stop recording before they are full.
I’m very weary about the workarounds but let me stress that those who have had reasonable luck with whatever other medium they are recording onto, I wish them all the very best and hope that they do not have any problems ever.
Best wishes to all

I edit my EX footage in Media 100 in HD, using ProRez422 HQ codec. Compressor takes care (abeit slowly) of downconverts to DVD, while the AJA hardware takes care of downconverting to tape such as DVCAM & Digital Betacam via SDI.
Even upconverting SD footage to HD and ultimately coming back down to SD does not affect image quality. I use the AJA FS1 for upconverting.
I get great results.
Hope this helps.

Brian,
Just a note to let you know that CD will have an upgrade to uncompressed for their XDR recorder soon after the unit is readily available.
Cheers

Great news. I too have an EX3 and have put my $500.00 deposit on a nanoflash recorder. Can’t wait.

Hi John,
I just did this last week. I shot the LCD screen with my EX camera and all I did to stop the patterning was to ever so carefully defocus the camera just to eliminate the patteerning. The end result was superb, even with small text on screen.
Worked like a charm. Client over the moon!!! Not sure how the results would have compared with my V1 or my old DXC-D50/DVCAM recorder.
I dis the entire edit in HD as well and will be shown on National TV here in Australia shortly. Shame I had to integrate it with 4×3 footage so the end result is in 4×3. Still a superb end result.
Cheers
