  • I doubt they are corrupt. I never used Vegas 9, but I experienced problems like you describe with Vegas Pro 8.1 which was the 64bit release of version 8. I never could use it for Fraps. If you are using the 64bit version you might see if you still have the problem with 32bit Vegas 9.

What release of 9 are you using (a,b,c,d, or e)? 9.0d and e as well as Vegas 10 have problems with importing fraps files. On a modern PC they should import quickly. If you are using version d or e or ever update to them and need to work with fraps recordings you should read my post in this thread: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/919876

I just started using Vegas 10 in 64bit and I don’t think the problem you describe happens anymore but maybe the issue was still there when 9 was first released. If you are using an old version of Vegas 9 and want to use the 64bit version you may want to try installing the latest update. But again if you do that you will need to swap a file to work with Fraps recordings as described in the thread I linked to.

You can crop the speaker and then use Track Motion (2nd button after the track title) for the speaker+slides.

I just posted the solution to get this working in that thread. You’ll probably see my post anyway if you are following it, but I am posting in this thread also to make sure.

  • Yes, importing some types of AVI files has been broken since 9.0d. Sony for some reason must not be very concerned with fixing it.

The “fix” is to use an older version of a .dll file from before Sony broke it.

Where you can get an older version of the .dll:

See here for some more details:

I just found out about this solution myself. I wasn’t able to use Vegas 10 because I could not import my video files. I personally have only tested this briefly but it seems to work fine as others have reported. Hopefully Sony will eventually fix this in version 10.

Yeah I gave up on using large 4GB files in Vegas 10 and went back to Vegas 8. Vegas 10 hangs horribly just by clicking on any of them in the file explorer. I can sometimes get one file to import after hanging for a long time but I can’t get multiple files to import. Vegas will either hang for a long long time until I kill it or will crash.

Everything works just fine in 8 and I’m hoping 10 is fixed.

Try using the ProType Titlers timeline at the bottom of the window. Click symbol next to the X and Y scales to add them to the timeline.
