  • I just installed v7.0.2 (moving from v6) and am seeing the same trouble with rendered stills. FrameFlex looks better than Pan & Zoom but is still unusable. I don’t have Stage Tools on this system to check.

My projects are NTSC using Avid 1:1 10bit. I have checked Import settings, Render settings to make sure everything is correct there. I am monitoring through an AJA Kona LHi feeding an SD broadcast monitor.

EDIT: I am on a Mac running 10.8.5. All my Kona software is up to date

    Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks all for the good info – confirmed my conclusions about this issue. Too bad Avid doesn’t make this easy the way FCP does – looks like it’s AE for me…

    Best,

So in case anyone else interested in this issue, I found the key for my situation.

There are devices that will lock to SMPTE reference and create a word clock for audio gear. A couple of devices came up on my trolling (mostly on gearslutz.com) which will slave to house reference or can generate SMPTE reference. Not sure yet which will operate locked to video AND generate clocks faster than 48k.

Rosendahl’s Nanosync & Nanonsync HD (which can generate tri-level sync for HD)
    Aardvark’s Aardsync II
    Lucid SSG192
    Isochrone OCX-V

Yeah, I change the capture so the audio’s coming from the ProFire @ 96K. The trouble is that in the captured file the audio drifts from sync – about 1 frame every 75 seconds.

Client undecided at this point – they just want to go home with a drive-full of uncompressed 10-bit video & 96k audio.

Master to DVD for short-term, but archiving for HD repurpose, hence desire for 96k capture.

    Thanks for any advice!

    Hi Marco,

I came across a local production house selling a used Videotek VTM-100 & picked it up today. So far it looks good!

    Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for responding, Marco. I am looking at the rasterizers. Are they as accurate for analog video as the traditional crts? And which brands have you worked with?
