    Thanks.

We’ve soughted the problem out. It seems Kona were a little too eager to release a new driver and there is a conflict with FCP 5. We’ve gone back to the previous Kona driver and it works perfectly.

Thanks for the info. I have found that it was AE misinterpreting the footage as NTSC even though it is PAL. It is fine with every other format but uncompressed for some reason and it selects lower field instead of upper automatically as well.

Is there a way to make a default interpretation of the footage so that it picks a specific field dominance and aspect ratio each time instead of having to change it with each shot (I do each shot in separtate projects)?

Thanks everybody for the info. I’m a little surprised there isn’t a 10-bit option, but if the 16-bit covers that then I guess it’s not necessary.

I have noticed a slight colour shift, but I just make sure that I put the entire shot through AE and then the entire shot has the same colour shift, which is pretty minor anyway.

    Thanks.

    Finally fixed the problem.

We found that the most recent version of the Kona driver 1.1.3 is the problem. It is incompatible with FCP 5. With 4.5 it’s fine. Go back to version 1.1.2 and the problem should disappear.

If you are using the Blackmagic card it might be the same added programing in the latest driver that is causing the problem. Try going back a version.

    Good luck everybody.

    Hi,

I am running a KONA LS card and am having the same problem. We have 2 identical Kona, G5 dual 2.3, SCSI raid systems and both have the same problem.

Also, the capture window crashes when you open it most of the time. Very scary.

We have replaced drives, updated drivers and software, wiped the machine, replaced the computer (from a dual 2 to a 2.3), replaced cables, etc. The only constant is the card as far as I can see. Maybe the Kona doesn’t agree with either Tiger or FCP 5.

    I wish I knew.
