after you have imported your MPEG motion menu footage, right click on it (within the project window) and then select “TRANSCODE SETTINGS” and then select “DON’T TRANSCODE” . Also try doing the same proceedure once the footage is on it’s own timeline as well.

yes.. use the CUSTOM shape tool in Photoshop and then draw out a white arrow, make this highlight 2
(=2)hlg and then set the colour to white for the SELECTED and ACTIVATED states within the EDIT MENU COLOUR SETS of Encore.
You should get the general idea if you look at more of the tuts on my site..

in photoshop all you need do is to have the (=1)hlg, then in Encore you can edit the menu colour sets that tells Encore what colours you want to use for the HIGHLIGHTED and ACTIVATED states.
If you are still unsure and you have not seen my tut website then please visit http://www.sitesled.com/members/doogs/ there are loads of tuts that will show you how to go about it. You will have to save your menu from photoshop onto a disc or USB flash drive to get the menu onto the Encore based machine

it is possible to make a video preview button of just the frame that the robot is holding.
please check out Tut#12 in the intermediate section of my website (video preview button)www.sitesled.com/members/doogs/downloads.htm this tut will show you how it’s done, just modify some aspects of it to use on your .psd file.

I forgot to mention in my tut the reason for seperating the audio/video into seperate streams and then adding the audio to the menu in Encore, this is just a workaround to get by the 15 second loop that Encore allows.

I have just done some “Googling” on the error message that you are seeing, this is what I have come up with..

I ran into this problem last year: Photoimpact wouldn’t open. Instead I got an error message saying “Xerces Panic Error – could not load a transcoding device.” This has affected some Dreamweaver and Adobe users, too.

I found this solution on another forum, and thought I would share it here.

Apparently, the problem is a corrupted/changed registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/MIME/Database/Charset

I went to my laptop (running the same OS, Win98SE), exported the registry key to a floppy, then imported it into my desktop’s registry. Photoimpact opened fine.

One member said he simply deleted the key, and although the error message still appeared, his program loaded and ran. I wouldn’t try that without backing up the registry first.

Encore don’t do seamless…..what you can do is to have a short fade to black at the end of your video

split the audio and the video using your editing software and export as seperate streams, and then import as seperate assets into Encore. Then drop the audio asset onto the motion menu, this is the only workaround to get round the 15 second max that Encore allows.

look at the timelines in the project window of Encore, there should be a little YELLOW CIRCLE with a BLACK RIGHT FACING ARROW. This indicates what has been set as first play. If there isn’t one showing then right click whatever timeline u wish to use and then select “SET AS FIRST PLAY”.
