I have just checked out the Adobe forums… some folks have cured the problem by either updating the video card drivers, turning down hardware acceleration or running the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and disable DIRECT3D (under the Display 1 tab)(though this can cause probs if you are going to be using subtitles in your project), this works for some people….

strange…. I tested it all before I posted my reply and it worked with no probs at all here on my system… I am using Encore Version 1.5… what version are you using… could be a problem that an update may fix.

Do you have many stills on the one timeline?? or are the still(s) on seperate timelines…. if they are seperate then just drag and drop the “STILL” timeline from the project window and drop it on the menu…

Or if the “STILL” is part of a VIDEO TIMELINE, then just scrub this timeline until you locate the still you want to use, now add a new “CHAPTER MARKER” at this point and then afterwards RIGHT CLICK on the timeline and select “SET POSTER FRAME” and now drag this newly created chapter up to your menu..

have you tried using the ZOOM IN SLIDER tool that is to the bottom left of the timeline.. this way you can zoom in and then you can scrub the timeline more Accurately.

forgot to mention… you can place the “fade in” video on a blank menu and make it a motion menu.. so technically you will be going from MENU to MENU.. this should make things a little smoother…

never had any issues when i created a “button” fly in effect using Prem pro, there was no delay at all…tho you may discern a slight “Jump” when the menu kicks in, but you get that even with Hollywood DVD’s

also I think this can all be done using Adobe after effects as well… You have to tell Encore where the loop point is to be. this way you have everything in one file…. tho i dont have nad am not familiar with AE

one way is to import your menu into your video editor and then apply a dissolve or fade to the front end of it (make the video around 5-6 seconds duration). and then export as .AVI and then import into Encore with its own timeline, now set the end action of this timeline to go to your actual menu.

import the file u wish to use as a “first play” and give it it’s own timeline, now right click on its timeline within the project window of Encore and then select “set as first play” now set its end action to go wherever you choose.

how i do it is to export from Premiere as .AVI and then allow Encore to encode all the files, it is faster and Encore does a better job of it (or at least i think it does)
