I mean the FCP Capture Monitor window, which appears on the computer screen. It just shows color bars and says “Preview Disabled” . I can control the deck, and I can see timecode rolling. Again, not a monitor issue, I’m just working with computer monitors. When (if) the piece is edited, I will convert the finished piecem and then play it on an NTSC monitor.

    Walter –

I’m having a similar problem with a Sony DSR11. I’m in an NTSC (60i) facility, with some PAL (50i) tapes. When capturing I have deck control, but don’t see a picture. The deck is self-selecting for PAL/NTSC playback. When I put an NTSC tape, everything works fine – whether I set Final Cut to capture PAL or NTSC, I still get a picture.

I duplicated the PAL easy setup, but no joy. Am I missing something basic (or at least basic to people who use PAL?)

So, on another partition I keep as back up, I did the same upgrades, have all the problematic compnents still in the Quicktime folder, and FCP works just fine….probably just till the next time I boot.

I have the cinewave components so I can deliver graphic elements from AfterEffects in that codec. Not essential, but I have a client that likes that. Also, I’m a little concerned that every day it’s a different component that causes problems.

Everytime I restart my system a component that wasn’t problematic before now crashes FCP.

    Today it’s

    CineLoaderComponents.component
    CineWaveComponents.component

    Crap!

This wasn’t an issue earlier but now seems to be:

    TSCC.component

Earlier today I was able to load Final Cut with this component in the QT library.
    Now, not so much.

    Just so’s you know.

A quick update – these Avid components are also causing the problem:

    AvidAVDJCodec.component
    AvidAVUICodec.component

Hey there, Walter, you were correct. It was CanonMJPEGAVI.component that was the culprit.

    Bad, Canon, bad!

    Everything seems fine now.

    Hey Everybody

Thanks for your posts. Here’s what worked for me:

    https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304477

I took all the 3d party stuff out of the \libray\quicktime folder

For me it was the following:

    3ivx D4 4.5.1 for OSX
    Blackmagic Codec.component
    Blackmagic RT Color Correction.component
    Blackmagic RT Dissolves.component
    Blackmagic RT Image Control.component
    CanonMJPEGAVI.component
    CineLoaderComponents.component
    CineWaveComponents.component
    DivX 5.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Export.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Import.component
    InstantMediaOSX.lib
    Media100 HD.component
    Media100.component
    MotionTrial.component
    TSCC.component

Final Cut loads now, but I don’t know which of the above is causing the problem.

  • You so old, I bet you used to edit on CMX!
