That’s good news. So the video and audio were synced on your Droid? It’s still out of sync on mine…

I just encoded with QT Pro and it works great on the Droid now – BUT now it doesn’t work on my Apple device… this is so frustrating!! Have you used QT Pro?

Thanks. I only have CS3 so I don’t think I have the media encoder. Can that be downloaded? If not, are there other encoders you recommend? I’ve tried many and Handbrake has always had the best result until now.

Thanks. The link above works great on the iPhone just not the Droid. I’m using Handbrake to encode to a mp4 from a avi file. I got the streaming issue under control but the audio is out of synch on the Droid still.

I noticed in my Handbrake options the audio source says “1 Unknown (PCM_S16) (2.0 ch)”… could that be the issue? The avi file uses a uncompressed wav file.

Thanks Angelo. I usually use “Any Video Converter Professional” to convert video. Most of these are FLVs at 512 x 288 and aren’t too heavy with animation and graphic effects… really just talking heads. I’ve been using a video bit rate of 2500. After your response I’m thinking I must be doing something wrong because you’re saying to use a rate as low as 1 or 2.

What happens to a video with a video bit rate that’s too high?

The video size is 512 x 288 and will mostly be played on mobiles and tablets.

  • It’s working on everything but FF.

I’m not sure if I’m doing the .htaccess correctly but FF wants to play a .ogv format. I encoded my video to that format but it’s still not working. Did you say that you didn’t need to upload a .ogv format for yours to work in FF?

  • how did you encode your video. I have a mp4 container with h.263 codec but I’m getting a “Sorry can’t play video” message on my Droid.

  • John, I’m looking at the website you posted and this seems to be a great solution. Do I have to encode all the different video formats and load them in the server directory in order for their “Option B” to work correctly… I’m assuming I do but it didn’t see anywhere on the site that mentioned this.

    Thanks again!

  • John, thanks so much for sharing insight… this confirms my thoughts with the HTML5 player too so I’m even more comfortable now to offer that as a solution to my client.

    Thanks!!!
