Mark! Thanks a bunch. Looks like that worked! Oh, I LOVE your Motion in Under 5 Minutes videos! I’ve also watched you and Steve a bunch on MacBreak Studio videos! Wow, you make it look so easy

  • I apologize, but should have know Apple is “famous” for those “hidden” or hard to find “pulldowns”. When you apply the “Color Correction” effect, up in the Inspector, you at 1st ONLY SEE the Gray bar that says “Color Correction” with the “Reset” arrow on the right end of that bar. Below is the words “Color Board” with an arrow surrounded by a multicolor ring. You have to actually click, (or touch with a pen) on the upper gray bar, then you get the “mask icon”. If you click and hold on that icon, you get a pulldown menu that has the following: “add shape mask, add color mask, invert masks”. I hope this helps out others who have been caught by this.

Just want to thank you VERY MUCH Charlie for the Strobe plug-in. It works!

  • Thanks to both of you, Robin, for getting me thinking and checking all my settings, and yes,you Craig for giving me the answer. Literally seconds before I checked your response, I clicked on the “clip appearance”, and there they were!

  • Thank you very much Charlie. I’m only on FCP X when I’m at work. So I will install the plug-in later today at COB. (Still using the Quad 2.5 Motorala-based mac from 2007. Still works like new in the box, but will have to upgrade later this year).

  • Sorry about that Charlie. I mispoke of the location of the “Strobe” effect in FCP 7. The “strobe” is a regular effect under the “effects” tab and not under the “motion tab”. The effect gives you 2 simple controls. The “strobe rate, and an option to “mix” this effect onto your clip from 0 to 100% opacity. Works great. I just haven’t been able to find anything like that in FCP X.

Thank you Don! We’ll check it out later today. And get back to our Ripple Training videos and try not
to “clog up” The COW with our “newbie” questions.

  • Thank you very much Don! I will save your response so when I work on making a template in Motion,
    I can refer to it.
