Thanks Doug. I will “trash” the preferences later today and see if that helps. Spoke with the artist who said they did export with “Millions of Colors +”. So my colleague ended up keying that in our old FCP 7 system (worked perfectly)
over chroma green for the FCP X system and exported to me as animation-it worked. Sent both of these to apple, but
    haven’t seen a response yet.

Thanks Noah, I will try those things on the apple support site. Creative Cow always works/responds quicker than the apple forum. I posted this hours before I posted on Creative Cow today.

Mark Spencer from Ripple Training answered the Motion 5 launching issue for me 6 months ago in this same forward. Holding down the “Option” and “Command” keys while launching Motion, trashes the Preferences.
That worked again for me today, so evidently, this is a regular occurrence you must do like performing periodic. maintanance on the program when laucnhing.

We are on the last version of Yosemite and Motion 5 has always caused us troubles when opening. Usually takes at least 2 attempts and then finally after 3 or so minutes opens. Today, I even called Apple support. They claim that moving to “El Capitan” would give a better than 50% chance of improving all application launches. But it could also slow down application launches they said. We’ve got an i7 with 32gigram, and I know that Motion is not getting “Ram Starved”. Very dissappointing because I use Motion for some things that are just lightyears ahead of and easier than After Effects. Posted this same issue over a year ago and I’ll now be searching thru the Creative Cow Archives because I did find a workaround thanks to the loyal members of Creative Cow!

September 29, 2015 at 7:39 pm in reply to: Forward Select Tool in FCP X?

Been working with FCP X now for a little over 8 months. Have tried everyone’s combination in this post and it really doesn’t work “If” you have made some of your clips individual storylines. Usually get the MAC “buzz sound when some keystroke is not allowed. The only way to “drag and drop” transitions onto another clip in your timeline is by making those clips “storylines- the “Command G” shortcut. In other words, I have not been able to group move all the clips to the right of your playhead it they are a mix of the following: gap clips, regular clips-(non storyline without that little gray bar over the clip) and storyline clips. Some of my issues I am sure is because our other suite is still FCP 7 (you know budgets, can’t replace everything all at once) and still have to use FCP 7 60% to 40% FCP X projects due to the makeup of our archives and long-standing projects from FCP 7. My friend who only know FCP X makes “COMP” clips of EVERYTHING and puts EVERYTHING only on the magnetic timeline. I realize its super easy to move everything to the right or left of the playhead then. Yes, I still “stack” most projects like I was still on FCP 7

September 3, 2015 at 2:30 am in reply to: Audio sync issues in “X”

Thanks everyone for your response. I’ll first try to just “expand the audio/video components and edit audio there without detaching. Then I’ll try leaving markers associated with the video clips to move the audio back in sync. Hopefully this is something Apple’s next software update will address.

September 1, 2015 at 2:42 pm in reply to: A list of FCP X frustrations…

I heartily agree and say “Amen” to your list of frustrations, plus a few more. Guess it is true, the longer you are on FCP 7 or another, the harder it is to adapt. Been on FCP X now for 8 months, but still have FCP 7 in the 2nd suite. I love many things about “X”, but wish they could have taken all those and just put them into 7. The magnetic timeline has caused me more pain than it has helped. Sometimes, I “watch” the timeline to see where things are going to “jump” or what “X” is going to do when I delete something or have to “swap” a clip. I can edit faster in “X”, BUT if I have to make a revision, it takes me LONGER in “X” than in “7”. I’ve never had “lip sync” issues in 7, But now, I’m having them in “X”. Why can’t “X” tell you how far an audio clip has been “knocked out” of sync. Like the little red box in FCP 7. Learning more each day, but still frustrated on some things.

  • Thanks Noah and Brett for your responses. I had forgotten about the transform controls where you can add points and make them smooth/etc on the path that is created in the viewer. I’ll still use the Alex Curve Scale plug in when I want to “slew” something in a zoom in our zoom out.

  • Alex 4D Easy Ease plug ins ARE now working again in FCP X. Not sure what I did, but they are working.
Sorry, all for the quick “posting”, but these are a HUGE deal to me. If anyone has any plugins, OR has found something in FCP X I haven’t that will make the “motion” work like “Easy Ease” in After Effects, please post them. This, as I stated earlier is one thing that makes me NOT LIKE ANY of the Final Cuts. Don’t know why they can’t “slew”, or make bezier moves like in Motion and After Effects “inside” of Final Cut X.
    Thanks,
