Quite right, Herb. As a general principle I trust my mind to organize how I want things more than I trust some decision tree algorithm, no matter how intelligent. Especially in complex, changing relationships.

I’d rather call it their younger, impressive, brother. That wasn’t true until 5.0, when it was the poor stepchild, but now, with the MPE and CUDA it’s been welcomed as an un and coming equal at the table. I’m totally guessing but I have a hunch that with CS6 the suite will take another quantum leap in integration. Some of the technology in PrPro must be highly attractive to the other Production apps.

I’ve always perceived AJA as a FCP-centric company with support for PrPro almost an afterthought, especially on the Mac. I’m sure this will change somewhat with the wave of new users coming over from FCP but if I owned a Kona card I’d be trying to kick up their involvement by addressing my concerns to their management.

Should work well. Make sure you’ve got decent cooling. Low noise will be the tricky thing. I’d investigate all options on this before pulling the trigger. Also google any issues with your 3rd party i/o drivers and your motherboard manufacturer.

Tim should probably answer this as he’s familiar with AJA. But with Matrox, the CUDA effects are more certainly fully operational in Matrox sequences. I wouldn’t expect AJA drivers to work any differently.

Tom, that sounds like completely false info unless it’s specific to the KOna 3 drivers for PrPro. The third party io cards work independently of CUDA.

Is this in an AJA timeline? Apparently there are new drivers for AJA.

Have you tried doing this in an Adobe timeline? Is the behaviour the same?

Something is badly wrong in your system. The fact that it works in FCP is irrelevant. It should work just as well in Premiere.

Hey Mark,

If there’s no other solution a possible workaround may be to export the sub-timelines as separate sequences and then nest them in the master sequence in Premiere.
