    Zoom in.
Or move the camera forward on the z axis.

You do not need to buy Disk Warrior. The new edition of Macworld has an excellent troubleshooting feature article worth buying the issue.

Once you get up and running, run a clone of your drive. A clone.

Run Disk Utilities to rebuild the permissions but do that AFTER you’ve backed up your drive.

Restart holding down the shift key this will initiate a safe boot and do a bunch of disk maintenance routines.

Disk Utility cannot run a repair run on your active system drive unless you start from an external system drive or the installer disk for your machine. Find it. Start with the C key down, when it finally boots form the optical, under the tope menu you will find Utilities. run Disk Utility to repair your drive.

    That’s not an implementation of AE’s 3D space, it’s a fake effect.
It’s entirely possible to do true 3D using AE’s 2D shapes by creating two cameras with appropriate interocular and rendering each camera in separate passes.

However, AE is not a 3D modeler or 3D animation system and its limitations are clearly spelled out in Adobe’s promotional literature. Well. not so much as a list of “AE CANNOT DO THIS” as a list of what it can do and the omissions become important.

    Fascinating!
The Revostock project seems to be a huge part of the BBC’s inspiration, for sure, but those twits have the Earth rotating backwards! This is an unbelievably common and totally stupid mistake with globe animations.

Precomping the ramps or other grayscale images is crucial and it’s a step most new users of compound effects do not understand. The target effect sees the referenced gradient layer before any effects are applied to it so if you have a solid and apply Ramp the compound effect will see nothing till it’s been prepcomped. And the compound effect sees the layer as a whole frame.

You can drive Card Dance with grayscale movies and your gradient layer has four channels which can each hold a separate grayscale image. This is a stupidly powerful tool.

Start with the manual for more details.

    Export>Quicktime conversion>still image.

Your predictable followup to this is, “Those suck. How do I get better quality stills?” and our response is, “You can’t. You are limited to the resolution of your video camera which is probably less than 500×800 pixels and yoru shutter speed which was probably 1/60th second and your ability to understand and cope with field interlacing.”

June 23, 2009 at 4:09 pm in reply to: Eliminating wind noise during an interview

“Wind” is not just noise. The impact of moving air on the microphone creates huge amplitude waves that effectively blot out everything else the mic was hearing at the same time. The mic simply cannot resolve the amplitude of moving air and subtle sound waves it is designed to hear.

IMagine a few drops of water being swept along in a fire hose. How do you remove the rest of the volume of fluid to recover the original little drops?

I have no experience with the advanced plugin suggested elsewhere in the thread. It is doing something very interesting and super complex besides trying to filter out a spectrum of frequencies.
