Watched it a couple of times now. Looks like a simple track matte to me, they just replaced the contents of the screen with the animation. I don’t sense the rest of the environment was created, just looks like a studio set to me.

[Tony Yarven] “The audio behaviour thing worked exactly how i wanted for this, thanks so much. “
Oh, I thought your OP indicated audio sync wasn’t appropriate.

There’s probably a script but I’ve just looked at the item in the project inventory list where it shows the dimensions and multiplied by 0.5

Try searching the AE tutorial sites for pusle and shockwave.
About the only thing I can think of to try in AE is use your ripple pulse on a grayscale and use that as the input for a displacement/compound effect. You could make this into a 3D scene, make the pulse layer large enough to place it in front of the background plate, tip it to camera. Your displacement will not be 3D but the scene passing through it will appear to be distorted in 3D.

We’ve seen this topic many times over the last few months on all of the AE forums. Try searching a few of them for similar terms. The solutions/threads/suggestions are all over the map so only you can decide which ones to try on your system.

[Rudy Shalamar] “My editor has supplied me with compressed AND non-compressed”
Yes, but what codec and what frame size/format?
AE has a RAM preview function, not a realtime playback function. AE has no audio playback capabilities except for audio preview.
As the others have tried to say, you’re in way over your head. You cannot sell your services or start projects like this without knowing how After Effects works and, buddy, AE is a really complicated application. Takes many of us several months to get past the most basic functions.bogiesan

[Tony Yarven] “Our original Idea was to simply film a timelapse of the morning rush hour as it currently is, then simply speed it up. But this doesnt seem like it will work, as we want to create a picture of things REALLY crowding up.
“Don’t shoot timelapse and then speed it up, that’s redundant. Shoot the scene in realtime and speed it up to simulate timelapse.
Kevin’s idea is sound, a good place to start. The Replicated Man can rapidly populate your scene with hundreds of copies of the Man (and each can have a different or random start frame) but you’re going to have to practice this effect carefully. I don’t know what your street scene looks like but you will want, presumably, to maintain some illusion of depth and interaction with the environment. So your Men will need to pass behind walls, in front of obstacles, and turn corners. That ain’t easy.

[Tom Burke] “I didn’t know that Livetype has been dropped.”
We’ve been assured that LiveType files can be opened in Motion 4 but I’m not sure anyone has really tried it yet. All of your LiveFonts are accessible in Motion.
Noah’s right: Learn Motion.

We’ve seen this question before and I’m pretty sure there is not even a third party effect available that simulates lightning. IIRC, the advice was to locate a movie and either buy it or find a freebie.
If you know someone with After Effects, there are two fabulous lightning simulations. However, this effect is supremely fake. Real lightning is instantaneous and simulations tend to last much longer, instantly flagging the visual as faked.

[Tony Yarven] “Just to clarify, i meant is there some behaviour or trick, where when i turn keyframe it to be on, it will just move repetitively like a mouth, then when i keyframe it to be off, it just stays still. I dont need to sync mouth shapes to certain sounds in the VO, i just need basic up-down mouth movement. “
All you really need is a movie of the predesigned and rendered mouth animation. You’re going to make this into a loop. You’re going to replace the face layer with a group called Face and part of the group will be your mouth movie so the mouth moves with the Face.
Making the loop start and stop could get tricky because applying time remapping keyframes to the movie might require some monstrous juggling.
You could have a static mouth shape under the mouth movie and turn the opacity of the movie on and off when you need or want the character speaking.bogiesan
