The displays are not an issue.
Focus on the graphics. Buy they biggest baddest you can afford. Suggest you don’t ask for a recommendation. There are about 20 cards on the market today that Apple will say work with Motion. Take your pick based on your budget, performance needs, ability to expand, faith in the mfr. But, by the time you receive the one you ordered, there will be six new cards on the market for Motion.

Sounds to me like it’s your ISP that is the problem. You need a faster upload connection.

the single most common cause is trying to use rendered media in new sequences. You might be using reference movies or nests and later alter or toss the upstream source. Then the Render Manager decides the render footage is no longer needed and discards it. You probably need to export movies and reimport them as new, self-contained clips.
However, this is more often accompanied by the red Media Offline warning plate, not a complete disappearance.
Sorry, best I can think of at the moment.

Selected the clip in the Browser or in the viewer?
Do you have wireframes active? It’s all quite confusing at first. The tools work, you’re just not using them properly yet and the interface could be far more intuitive. Go back through the setup for this operation carefully, try not skip any steps. You’ll figure it out. And welcome to the family.

CMYK images can cause havoc, too.

I love this question.
It was my very first inquiry at apple.com’s FCP forum, back in the FCP3 days, about 8,000 posts ago. Tom Wolsky handled it for me.
Also interesting that this silly interface issue is still a silly interface issue. Any other application that restricts the pixels you’re viewing has some kind of indication to that effect.bogiesan

January 20, 2006 at 11:11 pm in reply to: Motion Not Seeing Alpha Channel From FCP ExportThis is usually caused by FCP’s insistence on assuming you don’t know what you want.
Umm, sorry, I’ll restate that:
FCP is probably exporting the rendered clip, not the original clip. If your working sequence settings are DV, there is no alpha channel.Try unrendering the clip (control-click> remove attributes) and export it again using Animation.

We’re starting to see this question almost daily so scroll down a page ro two and you should find several answers. The easiest quickest route is to export it as a reference movie, import the reference movie into Flash, and export out of Flash. Some applications like Sorenson Squeeze and Cleaner are equipped with the Flash codec but Quicktime is not one of them yet.
You’re going to find that most Flash people do not understand video which is all pixels. Most video people do not understand Flash which can be pixels or vectors. Video is not vectors.

Depends on which type of keyframe. Center keyframes can only be changed in the Viewer, which is a stupid interface design. Most other keyframes are changed in the keyframe editor. And after twenty years of using Bezier curves in drawing applications, Apple’s Bezier handler sucks, it’s really twitchy.
Easier and quicker to look up questions like these in the manuals or in online help. You get less attitude, too.
Try Index>Keyframe.
Try Index>Interpolation.
Try Index>Smooth
