Your two most critical factors are the camera you are using and the lighting.
If you are shooting with inadequate color resolution, like, say DV, you will never be able to pull a decent key without lots of post production tweaking. Get a better camera, chepaer in the long run.Lighting your green screen to create a solid sheet of color is critical to making your chromakeying easy and painless. You need lots of lights, lots of distance between the band the cyc, and a good lighting director.
Google green screen, chromakey, and blue screen. You will find many hours of helpful reading. pay attention to the horror stories because veryone makes the same stupid mistakes and they don’t have to.
It’s far too complicated to talk about in these little posties. Try kenstone.net for help on keying DV and search the cow for the same sets of terms.

You could always try adobe, they oughta know. I don’t have this issue so I haven’t actualy read this pdf.

Is this any more clear than your previous post? We’d love to help but you will have to be much more precise.
I have never seen the error you are quoting, or misquoting. RAM preview is fully explained in the help system. It will probably be simpler if you just start from scratch, follow the setup instructions, try it again.

Get lots of practice time on your FCP system before attempting to work on a real project or on a deadline. It's a completely different paradigm and Apple made many, umm, questionable interface and workflow decisions that will confuse you. The keyboard shortcuts are all different, of course, and you are going to miss M100's elegantly clean interface. FCP is cluttered up with junk you don't need or may never use. Were you planning on working at lower rez and then recapturing at full? Recapturing can be a total nightmare in FCP. Not like redigitiizing in M100 at all. Not at all. We’ve seen similar posts recently about troubles with Quartz Extreme. I have no clue if this is relevant but the best advice I saw was to make sure your monitor is set to millions of colors.
Weird.

Never used Edius. FCP has a mythical and unsupportable claim of being the supreme edit platform. It’s cool but you will never enjoy the same real time performance you enjoy with Media 100 because FCP is not hardware-based. Even Media 100 is almost useless without its proprietary hardware-based codec.
You have a chance to dump Media 100, great. But shop very carefully. Edius is a PC system, eh? That’s enough to make me run away screaming.

Since you’re posting the same question to more than one FCP forum, please be sure to go back and close all of your threads by posting your solution.
Media Manager bites. If they did anything that monkeys with Apple’s weird familial dependencies like, say, multiclipping, subclipping, slow motion or still frames, MM will bonk.
If you must be part of this production, have them ship you the project files and the original tapes so you can recapture.
