    Welcome to the family.

You can use SHATTER to create extruded text but the results are crude and the procedure is complicated.

AE is not a 3d environment, it has 3d capabilities. You must use third party resources to achieve superb 3d text within AE or use a 3d application and import the movies. There are ways to import 3d data from some 3d apps. That stuff scares me do I don’t bother.

IN order to use the Analyze Movie thingy, you must select the clip. If you have hundreds to analyze, it’s useless. I’ve used it on what I thought was bad media. It’s still useless as far can tell. Told me nothing.

We see several threads every week about potentially bad media. Sometimes it’s a CMYK still image or a corrupt render file. But it brings editing to a stop and they are difficult to spot.

Fully realizing it was s different type of media (proprietary infact) Ye Olde Media 100 was capable of indicating potentially bad media with a “damaged” icon. It was a H_U_G_E help in debugging large projects. Unimaginably helpful. I was stunned (SHOCkED!) to find out FCP3 had no such diagnostic.

FCP6 should have such a tool by now. Heck, FCP should have lots of things fixed by now.

Sounds like you know what you’re doing but 3/4″ can loose color a couple of ways. You haven’t said anything about the 3/4″ deck, you might be hooked up to the wrong output. If it has a tbc on it (should) you may have hooked up to one of the component outs instead of composite. Many DV convertors are twitchy about the quality of the signal coming in. Tracking could be just enough out of whack to prevent stable chroma from locking into the Canopus.

Are you absolutely certain the 3/4″ signal has chroma as it leaves your switcher? You will need to insert a monitor between the two to make sure. Better, bypass the switcher entirely.

    > I’m looking for options< Yar, I gave you one of those: I'd figure out a way to build the prop blades so they could be blurred. You said you read the manual, can't tell if you were being needlessly sarcastic, but many of CC's filters must be precomped and in a certain order. You could also try using the CC Time Blend and that other Time effect of theirs, however, the manual won't help you at all on either one. You'd have to ask real nice. You haven't answered the question we've asked twice: How are you building these blades of yours? While you'll get several options, you need to provide more information. If you're going to use your original art and comps, there may be no options. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

We’ve heard of this happening before, I cannot recall whatever become of the discussion. You might try searching but I don’t know what you’d look for.

Pardon the questions, we need to ask: Are you sure it’s a layer and not an effect that has the wireframe? Are you sure it’s a wireframe and not a demo version of a filter?

If you can render to Animation codec without the wireframe, you can always transcode the Animation codec movie back to any other QT codec in QT Pro or any video app.

You would need a firewire hub. Generally, not recommended; just too many things that can go wrong. Trust tape.

[Amy Hildenbrand] “‘m having trouble digitizing from a 3/4″ tape. I can see color in the monitor, but Final Cut won’t show me color in the preview window,”

You will need to tell us how you are connecting your ancient 3/4″ deck to your Macintosh.

    > Is this normal? Could the bottleneck be in the 100 Mbps. Ethernet?< There is a QMaster forum over at apple.com. It's as useless as the software is worthless, though. There are only a few people in the world who have successfully gained anything from Qmaster and they do not post. Qmaster (like distributed rendering in After Effects, Aperture v1.0 and OpenGL) is a cruel joke. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
