I rendered an animation of several helicopters and I want to bur the propeller blades. I tried using force motion blur and it has no effect. I would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks in advance!!

< You would need to read up on CC Force MB, see the doc on the AE disk. You haven't explained how you animated the blades. If they're moving objects, regular ol' motion blur should do the job. I would build a movie of the props and replace all of the animated objects with the movie. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Read the manual, that’s helpful. I’m not looking for someone to rewrite the manual, I’m looking for options. Regular motion blur wont work because the 3D animation is essentially imported video. I watched the Force motion blur Podcast from AR and he used FMB on an explosion clip. I’m guessing it’s not working for me because my footage is not time remapped. So I’ll ask again, what options do I have?

you could try echo or cc force motion blur effects. revision has a good plugin called reelsmart motion blur that works well on footage.

if the props are moving fast, like you’re barely able to see them, maybe you should remove them in the 3d app and replace them with a translucent disk.

    Okay,
so not knowing how you’re doing it… the echo effect is an option, as suggested earlier, but as far as the CC Motion Blur, you need to put that effect on a precomp of your rotating blades (as opposed to in it’s original comp position) and that will work… if you’re already doing that, well…. but if not, give it a try.

    > I’m looking for options< Yar, I gave you one of those: I'd figure out a way to build the prop blades so they could be blurred. You said you read the manual, can't tell if you were being needlessly sarcastic, but many of CC's filters must be precomped and in a certain order. You could also try using the CC Time Blend and that other Time effect of theirs, however, the manual won't help you at all on either one. You'd have to ask real nice. You haven't answered the question we've asked twice: How are you building these blades of yours? While you'll get several options, you need to provide more information. If you're going to use your original art and comps, there may be no options. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
