the only way to achieve RT is by setting up RT in your timeline so that there is no longer a render. This will allow you to work in draft mode or resolutions and see FX.
The other thing is to plan the workflow so that the things that you are importing match thte codec you are working in.

Stills in the photoshop format or animation codec will always need rendering before output.
You could also turn on dynamic RT.
The Kona cards do not offer hardware acceleration for any of these types of effects. They are all handled by the MAC processor.
The Kona only gives you some help with certain codecs.

The only other thing I would check is the render settings. The XDCAM is long GOP, correct? I wonder if it is an XDCAM thing.

Are your one second dissolves 24 frames or 30 frames. I think that if you try to stay with 6, 12, 24, 48 frames on the dissolves it might help you out.

You can set the autodsave to an interval like 20 minutes and then do a manual save in between to speed things up.
Sounds like you have a large project on your hands.

That is a multi layered ai file with several stages of animation.
you’d have to brak it into pieces and animate each layer seperately

Drag teh small icon in the top left of the viewer windoe into your browser window. Rename the file that ends up in the browser.
You can also select the file and save it as a favorite.

One thing to do after every install is to go into your user/or system settings and set your playback offset to zero. FCP defaults this to 4 frames (don’t ask me why).
Generally when going to digital decks the KONA is spot on, but there are tests youcan do (record burned in TC to tape and then recapture it and lay it back) and you can se if there is any ofset on your edit to tape.
I have found the KONA’s to be very acurate when going from K to deckeven and long distances (100 feet), and I ahve also routed it through a junction box with no issues.
