[Ryan Wuerfel] “re there any bitrate settings you’d recommend for uploading to youtube? The capture bitrate is 20,000,000. I’ve heard that youtube can only handle a max of 16,000,000.”

not Michael here, but have you tried the built-in Youtube renderer and uploader in Vegas Pro 12 ? what do you not like about it ? it does a pretty good job rendering with the most appropriate bitrate considering Youtube restrictions and re-compression.

exactly John, codec packs are very useful if you intend to use your computer as a media center, I’d suggest a dual-boot build if you really need to have a codec pack installed, keeping a “clean” Windows for Vegas operation, it doesn’t take long and you will probably avoid a plethora of potential issues. Not everybody can afford two different computers, but a dual-boot is easy to set up, will provide more details if needed.

while Sony should consider adding this in a future build, we have some 3rd party plugins already that do such tasks.

  • seems like a drivers issue to me, once some of their functions are invoked. Try updating or rolling back to a previous version and check again.

Larry, of all solutions I’d never figure this was it, creating a new account was smart, it basically *almost* creates a fresh install of the operating system without the need of re-installing, of course if files are damaged or corrupts or there’s a rootkit virus installed that won’t away…

to my knowledge there is a system service running on-demand every time you log in with you usual account, you got to try the resource monitor (type “resmon” in a command line of Windows) and check with services are running in your usual account compared to the “fresh” one where Vegas runs fine, please post here those services running, it could help a wide range of people suffering the issues. Also, check whether Windows updates are the same (same ones installed) for the new account compared to the “faulty” account.

    Cheers !

ok, try reinstalling DirectX… use the end-user complete download, not the web update. Also uninstall NET Framework 4 and reinstall it, let Windows Update take care of it after rebooting. Make sure update KB2670838 is NEVER downloaded, hide it and never download it.

should the problem persists, open a Windows command line and type “SFC /now” to automatically repair corrupt and missing DLLs.

if it keeps failing after a fresh install of Windows there’s something wrong with your hardware, not the GPU as you did swap them, but who knows, welcome to the nightmare of PC builds, where a simple update be it drivers or operating system updates can affect Vegas (or some other software) to the extent of rendering some features useless.

    best of luck.

considering Vegas Pro 12 is able to work with these out-of-the-box…

AA3, AAF, AIF, ASF, AU, AVC, AVCHD, AVI, BMP, BWF, CDA, DIG, DLX, DPX, DV, EXR, FLAC, GIF, H.264, HDP, IVC, JPEG, M2T, M2TS, MVC, MOV, Sony MXF (XDCAM – HDCAM SR), MP3, MP4, M4A, video MPEG-1 / MPEG-2, MPO, OGG, OMA, Panasonic MXF (DVCPRO, AVC-Intra) PCA, PNG, PSD, QT, R3D, SFA, SND, TIFF, TGA, VOX, W64, WAV, WDP, WMA and WMV

there’s no point in installing a codec pack just to support some obscure format/codec not listed there, so yeah, my multimedia PC at home is suited for a codec pack, but the IT guy at my workplace makes sure there’s no workstation “infected” with them.

in case you’re using two GPUs completely uninstall one of them or try using older drivers.
