I did send them an AAF but they did not use it because they said that most of the effects did not come back with it…..rather they had me dump the graded material back into the same folder that I pointed too for the import of their AAF which I did not feel comfortable with but they wanted it that way. Should most of the effects come back with my AAF and why can I not drop my graded material into it’s own folder? Also which is the best way to go, clips with prefix V1-001 or sub folders with event numbers?
I am with you I think they need to use my AAF to import with but there is the issue of the missing effects.
Also I am running into a issue where when I import using their sizing it always comes in wrong?? Pushed in too far or something. These shows have multiple speeds and resolutions which Resolve can handle but never figured out how to make sizing transparent… -

No it takes the whole system down hard power off the message that my Mac has a problem and was restarted etc etc

I have the same problem except in reverse. Frame blending is applied to shots that was not originally applied in FCP. We have never been able to figure out what causes it.

I had the same issue and still do on rare occasion now. Went to 9.1.1 and that seemed to help but usually the problem was that the codec had become corrupt and a simple restart of the program fixed it and sometimes a reboot of the whole system fixed it. My clips would go black while watching the time line one at a time till they were almost all black.
Hope that helps. You might also want to check the extensions in the media pool and see if there is a clip that might be corrupting the system. I have on a rare occasion seen Resolve try to bring in a clip that it shouldn’t. -
Sounds like our work flow is very similar. I started having issues somewhere after 9 came out on one of the upgrades. What I have started doing now to help me get around issues and you might want to try is on import of XML uncheck the box that says to “automatically set settings”. Before import go to the project page and set all of your settings up front rather than letting the XML do it. What was happening is that my XML was based on a 29.97 time line but after import and the ‘Auto Settings” checked I went back to the project settings only to find out that it had been switched to 30fps instead of 29.97
Also if you make a mistake it’s best to start a whole new project and try again rather than trying to delete XML and clips and try again. I have found that once it has gone bad it just gets worse if you stay in the same project.

The and key word you used is “Hit Show”. I am assuming that your footage is very well shot. If you have that many clips and going thru it in that short of time you must be doing very little to the grade. When you have footage that is all over the map at least for me I perfer to have my nodes in an order that I can do things with a system where by I can throw on say a vinyette without having to set up the window node with the outside node. Also if I start with two blank nodes I can paralell those nodes to bring down a blown out sky etc. Its just the way I work and for these shows it works for me. When I am doing spots I start from scratch on each shot. The key to coloring and I say this with 32 years of experience is that no two people will do things the same way, just like you probably use things in Resolve that I never use to acheive the same thing. Because I am “Old School” and learned to color back in the day when you had nothing to do it with I perfer a more simple approach and keep it simple, I don’t believe in beating a shot to death. I was just looking for a answer with my post to help me do things faster because of the nature of the shows I am working on. I say whatever works for you “do it” because at the end of the day its your work and if you are sucessful then do it the way that works best for you.
