All those items will work very well. However, you state that you want “fast” render times. Your meaning of fast might be different than mine. Having an Intel Xeon CPU will yield the fastest render times currently available on the market, along with using a professional graphics card instead of a gaming card. But that’ll increase your build cost.
Waiting until Black Friday to shop at Newegg’s site might save you a few dollars, but maybe it won’t.

+1 on what Stephen said. Time to upgrade your computer to an Intel i7-based system that has a dedicated video card (ie- no integrated GPU).

Aren’t DVD movies MPEG-2? I would assume you’d want to rip them with the same codec, that way you’re not converting them to something different. But maybe I’m wrong.

That error message (comctl32.DLL) is a Microsoft Visual Basic control used for creating the item boxes. The software is crashing while opening because it can’t create the boxes used for listing or grouping items. Something in your system corrupted it. Best bet is to uninstall and reinstall Vegas Pro (download the latest version first). And don’t install any of those codec packs as their not needed.

You are aware that YouTube recompresses the video that you upload to their site? For YouTube uploads, render using the MainConcept HD 1080 for Internet, crank up the average and !maximum bit rates, and enable two-pass rendering. It’ll take a while to render but will give you the best quality for YT.

In regards to the home theater hardware question, you might want to visit https://www.head-fi.org as they have a great user forum that discusses home audio equipment. I’ve used that site quite a few times before making an audio equipment purchase.

If you’re playing with video game capture, you’ll probably want to keep the two-pass option enabled. If not, fast-paced gaming scenes may not look too good.
