Try renaming the file (for example, if current file is named ‘chime.wav’, rename it to ‘chime_new.wav’). Use the newly named file in Vegas and see if it’s back to the normal sound.

Could be a few reasons: programs starting up at system boot-up, bad RAM chip, maybe something else.
Start by running MSCONFIG (type that in Windows run box), go to ‘startup’ tab, uncheck everything except your antivirus/security software. Reboot. Then try to render.

Roll back the Windows update. Problem solved.
It is common knowledge on this board that Windows updates may cause Vegas instability issues, so most users turn off automatic updates.

You want Microsoft to list every program that isn’t yet compatible with a brand new OS??
Your error message tells you exactly what the problem is– the nVidia GPU driver. Did you check and see if nVidia has a Windows 10 driver?
Blaming this on Sony is 100% wrong.

They are not professional codecs, nor even good codecs. I highly doubt Premier or any other program will handle these well.

How about listing some hardware specs?
As you noticed, it is not worth disabling multi-core in the BIOS and isn’t a permanent fix anyway.
Find out every detail about the system hardware and update every driver.

How does the footage play outside of Vegas? Does the green flicker occur when playing the clip in another media player? If so, then the file is corrupted.

My friend just purchased a GH4 and we played with some edits in my system (Vegas Pro 12 with i5 CPU & Radeon HD7850 GPU) and playback wasn’t perfect. To edit 4k you really need a top-end system and super-fast RAID array. A single SSD isn’t going to cut it.

I doubt it is going to render any faster with GPU enabled, as it is a consumer graphics card and not a professional graphics adapter.
Don’t expect 100% CPU utilization during renders since the software uses only the percentage needed to get the job done. Just like driving a car: you don’t have to floor the gas pedal to get to the grocery store. CPU utilization might go up if you pile on video effects. If your goal is maximum render speeds, you’ll have to invest in some Xeons and a new motherboard.

In my opinion, your AMD cpu is the main cause of your stability. I have never seen an AMD cpu perform well in any video editing-oriented tests.
