Thank you Bob..I appreciate the reply…

The playback device should be a Grass Valley Turbo but we could change that if we needed too.

Can you explain the difference between scaling and reshaping? I’m coming from an AE/FCP perspective where I just use the term scaling.

If I would work in a reduced resolution and get the montage to scale it up…what, in your opinion, might be a reasonable resolution to work in?

I’ve never worked in a 3500 x 1050 resolution, even with a mac pro and 8 gigs of ram…I would imagine AE will run pretty slow…would you say?

Thanks for the help Bob…this is new territory…

Thanks very much for the replies…

From what I understand, not too many people actually go uncompressed anymore and especially now with ProRes. If I get the Kona 3 and use my IO standard def, I’ll save $1000 which I can put into a better monitor…

    Thanks guys!

    Thanks Everyone

When I first started investigating an HD monitor I was going to get the Dell 2407, then I thought the AC 23 with MXO, now I’m thinking the Panny 17 inch but I think that’s as far as the budget will allow. These other monitors look fantastic but in my price range I think this is the best I can do. I know Walter has previously said it was a decent monitor but would MXO and AC23 be better?

Once again…thanks for the replies and BTW…I’m doing corporate work.

I should also mention that I do have an AJA IO standard def to connect beta sp and other gear…

I would be interested to know if anyone uses this setup as an edit monitor situation (not color correction)

Wow…thanks Bob! That sounds like a pretty good solution for a very reasonable price!

BTW- I also took your advice on the Behringer audio patchbay you suggested a couple of times here and in the magazine…thanks again!

    Thanks again Walter

Would you use the component output for those? Or possibly an SDI to HDMI converter?

I sure wish AJA would give the IO HD box to you, Shane, Bob, Jerry, Gary etc for testing purposes.
