[Bret Williams] “In my setup I use one event for projects and one event for media”

What is your reasoning for projects in an event? I know apple did it that way when updating from 10.0.9 but if you create a new event in 10.1 it has a check box to create a project in the event.

I’m trying to figure out which way to go. Projects in there own event or in the media event.

I help a friend update his projects and events. We had to relink a lot of media, I told him to copy the media into the current Library on reconnecting and when we did this the media was imported into the “updated projects” event But this seems messy too. It seems Apple is sending mixed messages about where projects should reside.

However the playback of the unrendered footage on the MacBook Pro was very bad compared to the Mac Pro which played perfectly unrendered with the better performance quality setting.

I ran this test twice on both machines. Same hard drive and the Macbook Pro had a faster render.
The MacPro has the BlackMagic Mini Monitor with th 9.93 drivers. Maybe that make a difference.

TB 2 = 830 write 700 read

I haven’t done sync in an event but did you try “open in timeline” by right clicking on the clip?

Yes my sync app does see the package as a folder. Good News!!!

If the media is stored in the Library and you want to back up your work nightly you will have to copy hundreds of gigs every night or open the package and copy only whats changed. I have that problem right now so I’m thinking of storing as much of the media as possible externally. Before the Library I used a folder syncing program. I don’t know if this can be done with the Library structure.
