FCP X – Compressor Blu-ray video now .264 extension
FCP X – Compressor Blu-ray video now has a .264 extension. I guess were moving away from .mov. But I can’t open this file on my mac with 10.91.

Blu-ray compliant files out of Compressor always had a .264 extension. Quality isn’t really great though. And no, you cannot really open them under OSX. Adobe’s apps can work with them. Videolan can play it when its muxed as a .m2ts stream.

and so it continues with Compressor? I have never been really happy with what I can get out of it.

Download VideoSpec which is a great file analyzer and player app. Works on many formats that QT doesn’t and is very useful.
