April 17, 2014 at 4:07 pm in reply to: Monitoring out with new Mac Pro?

Can I connect more than 2 DVI or HDMI displays?

Mac Pro supports a total of two DVI or HDMI displays when connected via the built-in HDMI port or using the Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. To connect additional DVI displays, use an active DVI adapter such as the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter. You can connect up to six active adapter DVI displays. This requires a powered USB hub since Mac Pro offers four USB ports and you will need six to connect them all.

[Glenn Grant] “s it limited to 2 monitors total?

However I graded 70 minute film in Da Vinci Resolve and it rendered out in 11 minutes so I can see some software is blazing fast. So that leads me to believe it’s not the Pegasus hard drives.

I don’t know where the problem lies. Personally I don’t think FCP X is tuned for these new computers. I can’t say it’s the hard drives. I’m just disappointed with the performance I’m getting with this new Macs, superfast hard drives and supposedly tuned software.

I have an R6 attached to the new MP 2013. All lower blue lights blink when playing back in FCP X. BM speed test says 800 write & 665 read and my 12TB drive is about half full.
HTH for a gauge of what you should be seeing.
Promise told me that you have to use terminal to make changes to manage power and spin-down. The R6 comes preconfigured to spin down. I used terminal to have it NOT spin down because I wasn’t getting great results with FCP X. Still not seeing great playback in FCP X.

[Jeremy Garchow] “t does. I miss this behavior in FCPX too.

I wish that would get implemented. I’m always hitting J and going backwards. Miss it in X

Green Screen, you can cut all of your dialogue in the main track and then add your green screen images below it.

Make sure all your audio is the same rate. 48k or 44.1 but don’t mix and match or it will fail to sync.
