We have an AJA LA and we can see our XDCAM HD and HDV footage through the firewire connected to the AJA LA in SD. Sweet!

Updated our AJA LA, all is working fine with the current drivers! Bonus, with FCP 6 you can play HD footage trough the LA to view on SD monitors. Down convert down by FCP 6.

G5 Dual 2 Gig, 4 Gigs of ram. Is this computer not fast enough?

Graeme, maybe I’m missing something but I am in my bay working in FCP 6 and when I add HDV or XDCAM HD footage into the pro res timeline it has a bright green line above which means preview rt.

If you edit HDV or XDCAM HD in a pro res timeline it won’t playback in real time. It would be easier (less rendering) to edit in HDV and render to Apple’s pro res codec which is a choice in the render controls, sequence settings.

We upgraded the same as Luuude and things seem to be good! Normally we would whip the drive and start from scratch but since the drive needs a new install so we thought we would play a little before the full reinstall. All of our prefs were left in tact including our setting in compressor. We have a AJA LA and can play XDCAM HD footage out through the AJA LA in SD! Very Cool!

I agree with Russell, I think FCP has trouble with DV TC. I have had to turn off the warning and just capture the footage. My only other question is in your post you said NDF 29.97. I think DV is only DF 29.97.
