I see 7 also including the original post. I did have problems though a few days ago with the “Winning Awards With Final Cut Pro X at Tech TV” thread said it had over 60 posts, but I only saw 4 of them.

Same here. The only time I had corruption was back in 10.0.2 or 10.0.3. I tried consolidating and/or moving within FCPX (don’t remember the details), just to try it out, and it screwed up a test Event. For full disclosure, I don’t have clients, I just do my own work, so my needs are far less complex then most that frequent the Cow. If I did work for others, I might consider using Event Manager, but the way I do it manually in the Finder is very easy and I always know precisely where my files are (and why).

You just confirmed what I’ve already been doing. I thought maybe I missing something, but evidently not. In the near future, I’ll start doing more shoots where I use external audio and/or two cameras, so I wanted to make sure I was on track before I started. Oh wait, FCPX has no tracks.

That doesn’t really sound unreasonable with that many video clips. Back to my original question then, would you use Sync Clips then just for a single video clip with a clean audio track or might you just use Multi-Cam anyway?

Last question, if you were to use one clip with one audio track and Sync them up, is it better to do this in the Event or the Project. Because of the way I screen capture online live video (video is captured off the screen after going out to an online server, but the audio is captured in the room), I continually have to move the audio forward 5 frames or so to sync it with the video, but I always do it in the Event.

I use prosumer cameras, so there is no timecode to begin with.

At this point, being a one-man show, I don’t use/need any other applications. I’ve made it by fine with with the audio and color features built into the program.

What do you use Synchronized Clips for… just replacing an audio track?

Let me re-phrase, in what situations would using Synchronized Clips be the best workflow choice? I get multi-cam and it would likely work best for even a 2 camera shoot. I just wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything about usage of Synchronized Clips.

My son just installed Mavericks last night, so I took a look at the Dictation program. Amazing! I haven’t looked at dictation programs since the ’90s. This works great. I’ve not seen a lick of instructions for it yet, but I tried saying, “comma”, “period”, etc., and it adds them. This may be the inspiration I need to finally upgrade the OS.

I bit the bullet about 1 and a half years ago and bought ClipWrap for Canon AVCHD and have not regretted it. I still back up all the original files and it’s card structure, but I prefer the convenience of wrapping the files, tossing the junk, and viewing them before I begin the edit. Works great for me.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I also re-name all my files to something that makes sense to me before the edit.

Also, at least for my size AVCHD files and Projects, I never use Proxy files, but you may need to for your Sony files if editing slows down.

Thanks for the reply in the other forum, I then replied with (yet) another question. I just watched a Larry Jordan video on H.265 at Youtube. It sounds like it’s not quite in usage yet. Maybe the next Compressor 5 or MPEG Streamclip will have it as an option?
