I’m glad there’s some positive response for this. I will contact the CrossOver Mac company and Wrensoft and see what they have to say before installing. I’m always a bit hesitant to install apps that are not completely self-contained and can cause problems with the OS. I don’t know if this would be the case, but I’ll look into it.

That’s pretty cool, thanks for doing all the leg work. I have always worked very hard in naming my Events and Projects so that it’s easy for me to match them up when I need to go back in time, but this system would be much easier to keep everything together in a simpler, less “needing to be clever in a naming convention” kind of way.

Starting new Libraries with Events and Projects should be very easy. My question would be as to how go back over the last 2 years and re-organize into Libraries. My guess is that you would load up all your Events and Projects, open 10.1, create/name the new Libraries and then drag and drop your older Events and Projects into the appropriate Libraries.

I guess we’ll find out in the next couple of weeks.

At least for me, this seems like the ideal format to go back and archive all my old lower quality files in (.dv, .avi, .flv, etc.).

Makes sense. I don’t leave it on all the time any more because of conflicts, but I still use Perian from time to time, mostly so I can play/convert .flv and .avi files which come from an older Canon camera that my family still uses. Although Perian is EOL’d, would we need a future Perian-type AVF component to allow backwards compatibility with older file types (assuming some company bothers to make it)?

I apologize if this is a naive question, but I’ve been using ClipWrap from day one with AVCHD Canon files. Would it possible to put virtually any file format in a .mov wrapper?

Not positive, but I believe the underlying .mts Canon files are actually a form of H.264. Does the wrapping work because the H.264 is a kind of .mov file or would a .mov wrapper work on a “non-native” Apple format like .avi or .wmv file (or something more complex) without the need to transcode?
