Sorry about the wrong forum. My computer automatically goes to the FCP forum when I come to the Cow. It seemed awfully strange when I did a search on SPRM’s and only got one result.

Your advice was correct. The scripts are running fine when I burn a test disk. I always hear everyone say that simulator is buggy, but this is the first time I’ve seen if for myself.

I just did a quick test, rendering off a 90 second MPEG from the timeline. It has one effect, the timecode effect, added to the output.

Rendering to the System drive:
— :40 seconds

Rendering to the Lacie Raid:
— :49 seconds till it reaches 100%
— 6:31 until the drive stops writing and the buttons in the render dialogue box to “Open” and “Open Folder” become available.

IOW, Vegas renders (maybe to a temp file on the C: drive?) but the Lacie Raid is churning along at full speed until it finishes copying the file. Resource manager shows heavy activity on the system drive as well as the Lacie.

Perhaps, Lacie is copying the file to it’s mirror image, but that doesn’t seem likely because I never see any similar slowdowns when capturing.

Any opinions to the Flash exporting – do ALL menu items and interactivity export or are their limits I’ll find out after spending $799?

I have a similar configuration: dual 2.5 G5, not as much RAM, and a Decklink SP card. I use the system for BetacamSP editing and have captured clips up to 20 minutes in length.

Here’s one thing you might want to check: In the capture window, under the “capture settings” tab is a button called “scratch disk”. Click on that button.

In the window that appears, at the bottom is an entry for “Limit capture to ….”. Mine is set for 30 minutes. What’s yours at?

In my situation, it was a sales video for a company looking for Chinese Government approval to begin operations in China. We were sending over a BetacamSP master to be duplicated.

There’s no way we were going to try to “sneak” it through customs. That wouldn’t be a very good way to make a first impression 🙂

I always use the PAL DVD Architect template.

In DVD Architect, also make sure you select PAL as your project setting.

China is a PAL country, so make the DVD using the PAL templates.

You do realize, of course, that Chinese law requires all videotapes to go through the “Ministry of Culture” to make sure there’s no objectionable material on them:
