Jerry, appreciate the reply. It doesn’t happen if I take the clips out of the Master template, it does happen with any Master template and any clip – usually 5-8 times in a 90 sec sequence using different Master templates, it happens if I use the MT direct in FCP 7 or produce the clip in Motion 4 or 5 then import into FCP7. I’ve managed to get a 99% result with just the hint of glitch using the DV50 codec. The re-seat card idea is a good one – will try that.

The HM100 uses the (Sony) XDCAM EX format and this codec needs to be on your Mac. I’m not sure which version of FCP included it but it’s downloadable from the Sony site – https://www.sony.ca/xdcamex/software.htm – You should also update from 6.0.1 to 6.0.6 using software update. I used an HM100 with 6.0.6 for 6 months with direct import into FCP with no problems, it’s a stunning camera with very high quality when used under the right conditions.

Jeremy, now I’ve played with it, it’s any of the generators when you use the “A” button in the viewer window but not if you use the same generator from the generator panel in the effects tab and drag the generator to the timeline.

The standard Apple Text generator, just tried it again and you can watch the EDIT menu item just disappear…..!

Just did a search and found this thread, I have the same problem – Edit disappearing from the menu bar. It happened on an old G5 with FCP6.0.6, I lived with it but it’s now happening on a new MacPro Quad with a clean install of SL & 6.0.6 and then a 7 upgrade. I’ve found it happens immediately after using the Text generator – obviously a bug or a common plugin problem.
