FCP not displaying .MOV from new JVC Camera
Help! I’ve done my research on a recent problem, and have found a number of answers for several situations, but just need some simple and direct help if possible. I have Final Cut Pro 6.0.1 Academic on a new MacBookPro – maybe three months old. I researched NUMEROUS cameras before making a purchase and decided on the JVC GY-HM100U ProHD Camcorder after rave reviews of its workflow with FCP. It shoots in the “native .MOV” file, and I was told you can literally import it or drag and drop in FCP without conversion. Unfortunately, at least the way something is set up now – that isn’t the case. FCP is not playing the video portion of the .mov file. I can hear audio, but there is no video. What gives? Do I in fact need to convert? Is it quicktime? It isn’t just FCP, the video is not playing in the QT player window on the mac as well, but the audio is there. Like I said, I’m just getting into all of this and am pretty over my head – if you can’t tell already. Is there a simple solution to this for a novice such as myself? I would have gone with a different camera, but was told this is THE camera to use with FCP.
