July 23, 2015 at 4:55 am in reply to: Warp Stabilizer makes Playback/Exporting impossibleWhat type of footage do you have? Is it *.mov” footage from a Canon?
What are your settings in Warp Stabilizer? Are you making any adjustments or are you using the default Subspace warp.It does take a little while, but I did a 20 second clip myself this evening, and it didnt take ages, and it played back just fine. However, you did mention that you are new to this. After you apply the effect, is the bar above it red? You can render the clip in the timeline and it should play normally.
If you grab the play heads and surround the clip with them, and hit enter, it will render it for you. Then when you perform the overall render for the whole timeline, it should be much shorter. (in render time)

July 22, 2014 at 5:37 pm in reply to: What would be the best codec for playback? Please read body for quick explanation. Thanks so much Walter. Makes sense.
I have a Windows machine and without downloading additional software/codecs, I can’t encode to Prores, but mxf worked just fine for me. -

October 15, 2013 at 5:32 am in reply to: Is there anything like secondary color correction in After Effects?total oversight on my part. As soon as I read what you typed, I went to look and over on the left near the bottom, there it was.
I’m still glad I asked because I fear if I never did, I may have continued to overlook that or just assume it wasn’t there.
Thank you.

August 31, 2013 at 4:25 pm in reply to: Anything in After Effects similar to the video limiter effect in premiere pro?Yes. For no good reason I just assumed this software was not included. I’ve also seen other plugins by other users for color correction/grading that do not include it but it seems so intuitive to me. That being said I was going to see if there was another way to perform the same function but I have no idea why I’m trying to reinvent the wheel when the tool is already there. Thanks for the confirmation Todd.

August 20, 2013 at 6:17 pm in reply to: Cannot reverse engineer picture style….wondering whyThe picture style editor. It has recently come to my attention though that not all picture styles, even used for Canon cameras, need to be made in that application.
So now I am wondering if they were just created in another application and that is why I am getting the error.

Bill,
Thanks for the response. I may jump ship. I’ve been looking at the GH2 for years now. And I’m not that much invested in glass. I do like Magic Lantern though and all it offers.
Anyway, thanks again. That was very well laid out and gave me a lot to consider. It’s a matter of do I get the G6 or do I have and get either the GH6 or the MarkIII.
We’ll see. I appreciate the input immensely.

August 5, 2013 at 1:27 pm in reply to: When rendering the footage before exporting the aspect ratio appears to change. To anyone who assisted me or anyone reading this who ran into a similar issue I determined it was the export settings as has been suggested. For this project it was set to DV. I. changed to uncompressed and it worked great.

August 4, 2013 at 11:47 am in reply to: When rendering the footage before exporting the aspect ratio appears to change.Unfortunately, now I cannot recreate it! I shut down my computer for a little bit and now when accessing the same projects and footage, I cannot cause that to happen again.
I adjusted the settings for the preview recently but now I cannot even recreate that, no matter what preview I choose in the sequence settings.
Thanks for the assistance everyone. I apologize. I am going to go under the assumption that maybe it was an incorrect dimension entered under the preview field. It’s the only thing that makes sense at this point.

August 4, 2013 at 9:04 am in reply to: When rendering the footage before exporting the aspect ratio appears to change.Well, that’s the thing. I haven’t even exported yet. However, is that the issue?
It is Canon DSLR footage and when I went to check the export settings now, I noticed the source footage was 8 pixels short of the 1920 by 1080 on the height, but I’m sure that doesn’t factor in.
Anyway, it is h264 – video is the square aspect ratio 1.0. So it’s consistent wherever I look. That being said, should interpret the footage as widescreen then? Again, it looks fine importing, looks fine color correcting, but when the bar turns red and I attempt to render, it renders, and then compresses the height.
I never thought about the export settings though…

May 28, 2013 at 6:34 pm in reply to: Importing RAW files into After Effects – exporting as h264…defeating the purpose? Thanks so much gentlemen! I really appreciate the input. They make tons of sense and have given me a lot of options.
Again, as mentioned (or eluded to), it all depends on the end result (depending on the client or for person reasons)
Thanks again!!
